Job Overview: This internship-position" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">internship position is located within the Communications and Knowledge Management Section (CKMS) of the Office of the Deputy Executive Secretary for Programme Support (ODESPS). The intern will work under the supervision of the Chief of CKMS and Public Information Officers. The internship is designed to be full-time, requiring 37.5 hours per week, and is unpaid, lasting a minimum of 3 months and a maximum of 6 months. The intern will play a crucial role in supporting the CKMS team with various tasks related to strategic communications and digital outreach, aimed at enhancing the visibility of ESCAP's work among key stakeholders and the public. Responsibilities will vary based on the intern's background and the duration of the internship, allowing for a tailored experience that aligns with the intern's skills and interests.
Duties and Responsibilities: The intern's duties may include, but are not limited to: drafting and editing content for public information materials such as press releases, newsletter articles, brochures, presentations, and feature stories; producing podcasts, social media posts, and multimedia content for ESCAP's social media channels; supporting the development and coordination of social media campaigns; creating multimedia materials for online and offline products, including infographics, social media cards, motion graphics, short videos, publication covers, branding templates, and event flyers; assisting with photography and video production, including event coverage, drafting scripts and storyboards, and post-production editing; managing the ESCAP multimedia database and audiovisual assets; organizing and executing ESCAP public events and commemorations; conducting background research for public information materials; assisting with the ESCAP Briefing Programme; and exploring and proposing new communications and digital outreach initiatives to enhance ESCAP's visibility.
Required Qualifications: Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent). While professional work experience is not required for the UN Internship Programme, a field of study closely related to the internship is necessary. Applicants should possess good knowledge of standard software applications, including MS Office, as well as social media and multimedia production applications. The ability to draft feature stories, news articles, and/or social media posts is desirable, along with knowledge of Adobe Creative Studio, CapCut, and Canva.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes either being currently enrolled in or having completed a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher) or being enrolled in or having completed the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent).
