Job Overview: The Program Manager for Pharmacy-Based Immunization Delivery (PBID) will play a crucial role in overseeing the operational, technical, and programmatic excellence of the project. This position is part of a significant initiative funded by Takeda Pharmaceuticals, aimed at demonstrating the effectiveness of pharmacies in delivering vaccines to underserved populations. The PBID project is a four-year pilot program across three countries, with the goal of reaching nearly one million individuals, primarily women and girls, to enhance vaccine access. The Program Manager will ensure that project objectives are met with high standards of quality and compliance with donor requirements, while also providing support to country project teams and network members. This role requires a proactive approach to managing project activities, ensuring financial health, and contributing to the development of technical documents and presentations for various stakeholders.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Program Manager will be responsible for monitoring and ensuring the smooth operational and programmatic implementation of the PBID project. Key responsibilities include:
Overseeing the execution of workplans and deliverables, ensuring compliance with donor requirements.
Conducting regular site visits to provide technical assistance and monitor project activities.
Leading the collection and compilation of periodic data reports and narrative reports for donor reporting.
Implementing demand generation activities to increase vaccine uptake, including social behavior change campaigns.
Liaising with national stakeholders, including Ministry of Health officials and pharmaceutical associations.
Providing financial management support, including budget preparation and tracking.
Assisting in new business development opportunities and leading recruitment and training of staff.

Engaging in 10-25% international travel as required.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Bachelor's Degree (or international equivalent) in a related field, with a Master's Degree preferred. A minimum of 7 years of relevant experience is required, with at least 1 year of supervisory experience preferred. Knowledge of international development and donor priorities in health areas is essential. Candidates should demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong financial acumen, and proven skills in project and staff management. The ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced setting is crucial. Candidates should also be highly organized, reliable, and self-motivated, with a willingness to improve processes for efficiency.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field, with a preference for candidates holding a Master's Degree or its international equivalent. This educational foundation should be complemented by practical experience in related areas, particularly in international development and health sectors.
Experience: The position requires at least 7 years of related experience, with a strong preference for candidates who have supervisory experience. This experience should encompass project management, financial oversight, and engagement with international donors and health initiatives. Candidates with a proven track record in managing complex projects and leading teams in diverse environments will be highly regarded.
Languages: Excellent written and verbal communication skills are mandatory, with relevant language skills preferred based on the country and program portfolio. Proficiency in English is essential, and knowledge of additional languages may be beneficial depending on the specific project needs.
Additional Notes: This position is based in Nairobi, Kenya, and is classified as on-site. The role may involve 10-25% international travel.
