Job Overview: The Program Manager for the Pharmacy-Based Immunization Delivery (PBID) project in Nigeria will play a crucial role in overseeing the operational, technical, and programmatic excellence of the project. This position is part of a four-year pilot project funded by Takeda Pharmaceuticals, aimed at demonstrating the effectiveness of pharmacies in delivering vaccines. The Program Manager will ensure that the project meets its objectives and adheres to quality standards, while also managing relationships with various stakeholders, including government officials and community leaders. The role requires a strong focus on monitoring project implementation, managing budgets, and providing technical assistance to project teams. The Program Manager will also contribute to the development of technical documents and presentations for both internal and external audiences, embodying PSI's values of measurement, pragmatism, honesty, trust, collaboration, and commitment.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Program Manager will be responsible for monitoring and ensuring the smooth operational and programmatic implementation of the PBID project. Key duties include:
Overseeing the delivery of all project aspects, ensuring objectives and targets are met within budget.
Conducting regular site visits to provide technical assistance and monitor project activities.
Leading the collection of periodic data reports and narrative reports for donor reporting.
Implementing demand generation activities to increase vaccine uptake.
Liaising with national stakeholders, including Ministry of Health officials and pharmaceutical associations.
Providing financial management support, including budget preparation and tracking.
Assisting in new business development opportunities and leading recruitment and training of staff.
Ensuring compliance with donor requirements and maintaining the programmatic and financial health of the project.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Bachelor's Degree (or international equivalent) in a related field, with a Master's Degree preferred. A minimum of 7 years of relevant experience is required, with at least 1 year in a supervisory role. Knowledge of international development and donor priorities in health areas is essential. Candidates should demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong financial acumen, and proficiency in Excel and budget management. The ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced setting is crucial. Candidates should also be highly organized, reliable, and self-motivated, with a demonstrated ability to improve processes and drive results.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field, with a preference for candidates holding a Master's Degree or its international equivalent. The combination of education and experience should be relevant to the health sector and international development.
Experience: The position requires at least 7 years of related experience, with a strong emphasis on project management and operational oversight. Candidates should have a proven track record in managing complex health projects and working with international donors.
