Job Overview:
The Temporary Deputy Director, Employee Engagement and Workplace Giving, is a pivotal role within Mercy Corps, responsible for leading the employee engagement and workplace giving team. This position entails managing and expanding the workplace giving program, which is crucial for raising funds from employees of key corporate partners. The successful candidate will work closely with senior leadership to align strategies and ensure the effective implementation of corporate social responsibility initiatives. The role requires a deep understanding of industry trends and a proven track record in fundraising, business development, and relationship management, particularly in the context of employee engagement and workplace giving.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Develop and lead the employee engagement workplace giving team’s FY26 global strategy and workplan in consultation with the Senior Director of Corporate Partnerships, focusing on increasing workplace giving revenue and enhancing Mercy Corps’ visibility among global employee audiences.
  • Establish workplace giving fundraising goals and targets for a portfolio of private sector partners in the US and abroad, in partnership with the Senior Director of Corporate Partnerships.
  • Collaborate with the Corporate Strategic Partnerships Manager and Employee Engagement Officer in Europe to adapt and grow the workplace giving program for European audiences.
  • Act as a thought-partner to corporate fundraisers in identifying and implementing workplace giving and employee engagement opportunities.
  • Oversee planning, logistics, policies, and administrative needs related to strategic pro bono volunteer experiences for partner employees.
  • Lead strategic planning for employee engagement events and campaigns with signature corporate partners.
  • Explore and pilot new tactics to enhance the workplace giving program, including pay-to-play engagement opportunities and standalone restricted employee fundraising campaigns.
  • Develop and track financial reporting in partnership with the Director of Fundraising Strategy & Services and Development Operations Director, compiling metrics and analyzing trends in workplace giving.

Required Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in employee engagement and corporate social responsibility strategies, preferably from both corporate and nonprofit sectors.
  • Strong business development and relationship management skills, with a successful fundraising track record.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across teams and geographies, particularly between US and European markets.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.

Educational Background:
A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as business, nonprofit management, or social sciences is required. A master’s degree or equivalent experience in a related field is preferred.

Experience:
A minimum of 5-7 years of experience in employee engagement, corporate social responsibility, or fundraising roles is required. Experience in managing teams and leading strategic initiatives is essential, along with a demonstrated ability to meet fundraising goals and develop successful partnerships.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory. Proficiency in additional languages, particularly those spoken in Europe, is considered a plus but not required.

Additional Notes:
This position is temporary and may involve full-time or part-time hours depending on organizational needs. The role may require occasional travel to corporate partner locations and events. Compensation and benefits will be discussed during the interview process.
