Job Overview:
The Senior Resource Mobilization Specialist II position at IFPRI is a critical role within the Director General’s Office (DGO), focusing on strategic resource mobilization and proposal development. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating and executing innovative fundraising strategies to secure both restricted and unrestricted funding from various sources, including foundations, government agencies, and multilateral organizations. This role requires a proactive approach to liaising with research units and corporate services to streamline proposal development processes and ensure high-quality outputs. The incumbent will also support senior staff and research leads in their fundraising efforts, making this position integral to the institute's mission of addressing global food policy challenges.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Senior Resource Mobilization Specialist II include:
  • Fundraising: Advising staff on the development and implementation of effective fundraising strategies; conducting competitive intelligence gathering to identify new donors and funding prospects; advising on strategies for approaching donor prospects; drafting outreach and communication materials; managing cultivation and stewardship for select foundations and individual donors.
  • Proposal Development & Coordination: Liaising with research units and corporate services to facilitate proposal development; supporting research units from project concept to full proposal development; providing high-quality reviews for key proposals; assessing and proposing improvements for practices and systems involving IFPRI’s proposal pipeline and funding intelligence.
  • Event Coordination: Assisting with event coordination as needed to support fundraising efforts and stakeholder engagement.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree with ten years of relevant professional experience or a Master’s degree with seven years of work experience. A minimum of two years of management experience is required, with a preference for four years of experience in a business development team supporting international development clients, including USAID and US government contracting. Experience in developing and implementing fundraising strategies for nonprofit organizations is essential, along with a proven track record in prospect research, outreach to funding sources, and donor cultivation. Candidates should demonstrate highly effective communication skills, both written and oral, and the ability to synthesize complex scientific and programmatic content for diverse audiences. A high level of professionalism and the ability to coordinate individuals from various disciplines are also required.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, with a preference for candidates holding a Master’s degree. The focus should be on areas related to international development, public policy, or a similar discipline that supports the mission of IFPRI.

Experience:
The position requires significant experience in resource mobilization and fundraising, specifically ten years of relevant professional experience for candidates with a Bachelor’s degree or seven years for those with a Master’s degree. Languages:
