  • It operates under Chapter VI of the United Nations Charter and is focused on supporting state institutions to strengthen political stability and good governance, including the rule of law. BINUH aims to preserve a peaceful and stable environment and promote human rights. The office collaborates with 19 UN agencies, funds, and programs to provide humanitarian aid and implement development programs under the leadership of national authorities. The mission is characterized by a limited presence in Port-au-Prince and emphasizes advisory support and good offices.

Job Overview:
The Information Management Officer position is situated within the Staff Unit of the United Nations Integrated Office in Haiti (BINUH). The officer will report directly to the Chief of Staff and is responsible for planning and implementing significant information management initiatives that impact multiple user groups. This includes managing documents, data, web content, and records management services. The officer will also develop training programs for information management, create business intelligence dashboards, and establish cross-cutting monitoring tools. The role requires identifying necessary information and data elements to produce standardized products and services, supporting data analysis through visualizations, and promoting information exchange standards while adhering to security protocols. The officer will design dissemination plans for information products and provide advisory services on information management policies and practices, ensuring the organization and maintenance of UN information assets. Additionally, the officer will participate in improvement projects related to information management and record-keeping, develop training materials, and manage records access and disposition functions.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Plan and implement information management initiatives that impact large or multiple user groups, including document, data, web content, and records management services.
  • Identify and obtain necessary information and data elements to produce standardized products and services.
  • Create data collection plans to regularize collection and production as necessary.
  • Support data analysis through visualizations and data services.
  • Promote information exchange standards and facilitate data sharing within security protocols.
  • Design dissemination and access plans for information products and services.
  • Provide advisory services on information management and recordkeeping policies and practices.
  • Research and evaluate new information management services and applications of information technology.
  • Participate in information management and record-keeping improvement projects. 1
  • Develop training materials and user manuals; train staff in information management services. 1
  • Manage records access and disposition functions. 1
  • Oversee space management and commercial storage contracts. 1
  • Supervise General Service staff in implementing related tasks. 1

Required Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in information management, data management, or related fields.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in information technology and data visualization tools.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Knowledge of UN information management policies and practices is an advantage.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.

Educational Background:
A university degree in information management, data science, computer science, or a related field is required. A master's degree in a relevant area is preferred and may be considered an asset.

Experience:
A minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in information management, data management, or related fields is required. Experience in a UN or international organization is an advantage. Familiarity with the political and social context of Haiti is also beneficial.

Languages:
Fluency in English and French is mandatory. Knowledge of Haitian Creole is an asset and may be considered advantageous.
