Job Overview:
The Regional Finance Assistant will play a crucial role in supporting the financial operations of the organization within the region. This position involves assisting in the preparation and monitoring of budgets, ensuring compliance with financial regulations, and providing analysis" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">financial analysis to support decision-making processes. The assistant will work closely with various departments to ensure that financial transactions are accurately recorded and reported. The assistant will also be responsible for maintaining financial records and assisting in audits, ensuring that all financial practices align with the organization's policies and procedures.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the preparation of financial reports and budgets for the region.
  • Monitor and analyze financial transactions to ensure compliance with organizational policies.
  • Maintain accurate financial records and documentation.
  • Provide support during audits and assist in the implementation of audit recommendations.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
  • Assist in the development of financial policies and procedures.
  • Provide training and support to staff on financial processes and systems.
  • Conduct financial analysis to support strategic planning and decision-making.

Required Qualifications:
  • Strong understanding of financial management principles and practices.
  • Proficiency in financial software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a multicultural environment.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Knowledge of UN financial regulations and procedures is an advantage.

Educational Background:
A bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business administration, or a related field is required. A master's degree or professional certification in finance or accounting is preferred and may enhance the candidate's qualifications.

Experience:
A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in finance or accounting is required. Experience in an international organization or a non-profit sector is highly desirable. Familiarity with financial reporting and budgeting processes is essential.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory. Proficiency in French is highly desirable, and knowledge of other UN languages is an asset.

Additional Notes:
This position is a full-time role and may involve occasional travel within the region. The contract duration is initially for one year, with the possibility of extension based on performance and funding availability.
