Job Overview:
The Project Manager will provide leadership for the Strengthening Livelihood and Resilience of Smallholder Farmers to climate change in Southern Province, Zambia (SLARF). This role involves ensuring that project goals align with national policies and climate adaptation strategies, developing and maintaining partnerships with government agencies, donors, NGOs, and private sector actors, and overseeing the integration of climate-smart agriculture, security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">food security, and nutrition interventions. The Project Manager will also be responsible for managing the project budget, financial management, and donor reporting, as well as leading project visibility and advocacy efforts. The position requires a strong commitment to the mission of Action Against Hunger and the ability to work effectively in a challenging environment.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Provide overall leadership and direction for project implementation, ensuring alignment with national policies and climate adaptation strategies.
  • Develop and maintain partnerships with government agencies, donors, NGOs, and private sector actors to enhance project effectiveness.
  • Ensure the smooth integration of climate-smart agriculture, food security, and nutrition interventions into project activities.
  • Oversee project budget management, financial reporting, and compliance with donor regulations.
  • Lead project visibility efforts, representation in coordination platforms, and advocacy initiatives to promote project objectives.
  • Supervise three staff members, providing coaching and training to enhance their technical knowledge and skills.
  • Prepare and administer the project budget and financial reports for the project and country office.
  • Foster an inclusive work environment that promotes gender equality and zero tolerance for abuse.

Required Qualifications:
  • A degree in agriculture, Climate Change, Environmental Science, Nutrition, Public Policy, or a related field; a Master’s degree is an added advantage.
  • At least 7-10 years of experience in managing agriculture, climate resilience, or food security projects.
  • Strong background in stakeholder engagement and multi-sector coordination, particularly with government entities.
  • Experience in integrating nutrition-sensitive agriculture into rural development programs.
  • Membership with a relevant professional body is preferred.

Educational Background:
Candidates must possess a degree in agriculture, Climate Change, Environmental Science, Nutrition, Public Policy, or a related field. A Master’s degree in a relevant discipline will be considered an added advantage, enhancing the candidate's qualifications for the role.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 7-10 years of relevant experience in managing projects related to agriculture, climate resilience, or food security. Candidates should have a proven track record of successful project management and the ability to work effectively in complex environments.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, and proficiency in any local language is considered a valuable asset. Candidates should demonstrate excellent communication skills in both languages to effectively engage with diverse stakeholders.

Additional Notes:
The contract duration for this position is 18 months. The role is full-time and involves supervisory responsibilities over three staff members.
