Job Overview: This position involves providing legal support to clarify the legal status of signatories of the Final Peace Agreement in Colombia. The role is crucial in ensuring that the rights and legal situations of these individuals are understood and addressed within the framework of the peace agreement. The consultant will work closely with various stakeholders, including governmental and non-governmental organizations, to facilitate legal clarity and support the peace process. The position is expected to last for nine months, during which the consultant will engage in legal analysis, documentation review, and stakeholder consultations to provide comprehensive legal support.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Conduct thorough legal research and analysis regarding the legal status of signatories of the Final Peace Agreement.
Prepare detailed reports and legal opinions based on findings to inform stakeholders.
Collaborate with legal teams and other consultants to ensure a cohesive approach to legal support.
Facilitate workshops and meetings with stakeholders to discuss legal issues and solutions.
Provide ongoing legal advice and support to the UNDP and other involved parties throughout the assignment.
Document all findings and recommendations in a clear and accessible manner.
Ensure compliance with national and international legal standards in all activities.
Engage with community leaders and organizations to gather insights and feedback on legal matters affecting signatories.
Monitor and evaluate the impact of legal support provided on the peace process.
Required Qualifications:
A professional degree in Law (Título Profesional: Profesional en Derecho).
Proven experience in legal analysis and research, particularly in the context of peace agreements or transitional justice.
Strong understanding of Colombian law and the legal framework surrounding peace agreements.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, in Spanish.
Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders, including government officials, NGOs, and community organizations.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Experience in working with international organizations is an asset.
Educational Background: Candidates must possess a professional degree in Law, with a focus on areas relevant to peace agreements, human rights, or transitional justice. Advanced degrees or certifications in related fields will be considered an advantage.
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience in legal consultancy, particularly in areas related to peace processes, human rights law, or public law. Experience working with international organizations or in a consultancy capacity is highly desirable.
Languages: Fluency in Spanish is mandatory, as the position requires extensive communication and documentation in this language. Proficiency in English is considered a plus, as it may facilitate communication with international stakeholders.
Additional Notes: The contract duration for this position is nine months. The role is classified as an individual consultancy, and the consultant is expected to work full-time during this period. The position is based in Colombia, and candidates should be prepared to engage with local communities and stakeholders as part of their responsibilities. Compensation details will be discussed during the interview process.
