Job Overview:
The position of Consultant for localization of UNODC university modules involves working on the adaptation and localization of educational materials developed by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) for use in universities. The consultant will be responsible for ensuring that the content is culturally relevant and accessible to the target audience in Mozambique. This role requires a deep understanding of the local context, educational needs, and the ability to translate complex concepts into practical learning modules. The consultant will work closely with UNDP and UNODC teams to ensure that the localized modules meet the educational standards and objectives set by the UNODC.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Review and analyze existing UNODC university modules to identify areas that require localization.
  • Collaborate with local educational institutions and stakeholders to gather insights and feedback on the localization process.
  • Adapt the content of the modules to reflect local laws, cultural norms, and educational practices.
  • Ensure that the localized modules align with UNODC's educational objectives and standards.
  • Develop supplementary materials and resources to enhance the learning experience for students.
  • Conduct workshops or training sessions for educators on how to effectively use the localized modules.
  • Provide ongoing support and revisions based on feedback from users and stakeholders.
  • Submit progress reports and final deliverables in accordance with the project timeline.

Required Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in educational content development, particularly in higher education settings.
  • Strong understanding of drug-related issues and crime prevention strategies.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills in both English and Portuguese.
  • Familiarity with the UNODC's mission and educational materials is an advantage.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multicultural environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Educational Background:
A Master's degree in Education, Social Sciences, International Relations, or a related field is required. Additional certifications or training in curriculum development or instructional design will be considered an asset.

Experience:
A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in educational content development, localization, or instructional design is required. Experience working with international organizations or NGOs, particularly in the context of drug prevention and crime education, is highly desirable.

Languages:
Fluency in English and Portuguese is mandatory. Knowledge of additional local languages would be considered an asset.

Additional Notes:
The contract duration for this position is for 25 working days. This is a consultancy role, and the consultant is expected to work remotely while coordinating with local stakeholders. The position is open to both national and international candidates. Compensation will be based on the consultant's experience and the UNDP's remuneration policies.
