Job Overview: The position of Associado(a) de Pesquisa Qualitativa is integral to the innovation laboratory of the project BRA/21/002, which focuses on strengthening capacities and promoting innovation within the Defensoria Pública da União (DPU) in alignment with the 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The role involves conducting qualitative research to support various themes related to the DPU's operations, ensuring that the research aligns with the project's objectives. The project is expected to run until December 31, 2025, with the possibility of extension. The selected candidate will work closely with the DPU and UNDP teams to produce and analyze qualitative data, contributing to the overall success of the project.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Associado(a) de Pesquisa Qualitativa will be responsible for the following duties:
Develop research projects and methodological strategies, ensuring the relevance and technical rigor of the work.
Conduct qualitative research, including diagnostics, bibliographic and documentary research, and other analytical materials, utilizing various data collection and analysis techniques.
Organize and structure data sources, ensuring the storage, sustainability, and accessibility of information.
Prepare reports and technical documents, including manuals and guides on topics related to the 2030 Agenda.
Participate in and support the organization of events and meetings, presenting results and contributing to the dissemination of research findings.
Assist in supervising products and consultancies and in producing management documents as needed for the project. The incumbent may also perform other functions within their functional profile that are deemed necessary for the effective operation of the program.
Required Qualifications: The position requires a minimum of a high school diploma, with a higher education degree (Bachelor's) in Law, Social Sciences, Public Policy, Economics, Psychology, or related fields from a recognized higher education institution being preferred but not mandatory. Candidates should have a minimum of 6 years of relevant professional experience for those with a high school diploma or 3 years for those with a higher education degree. Additionally, candidates should possess at least 3 years of experience (professional and/or academic) in the areas of Human Rights, access to justice, and the protection of rights for vulnerable individuals. Excellent oral and written communication skills, proficiency in information technology, and knowledge of the Office Suite are also required.
Educational Background: Candidates must have at least a high school diploma. A higher education degree (Bachelor's) in Law, Social Sciences, Public Policy, Economics, Psychology, or related fields from a recognized institution is preferred but not a strict requirement. A Master's or Doctorate in relevant fields is considered desirable.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of 6 years of relevant professional experience for candidates with a high school diploma or 3 years for those with a higher education degree. Candidates should have substantial experience in conducting research, particularly in the fields of Human Rights and access to justice, with a focus on vulnerable populations. Experience working with justice system partners, especially with the Public Defender's Office, and involvement in international technical cooperation projects with UNDP or other international organizations is highly desirable.
Languages: Fluency in Portuguese is mandatory for this position, while a basic level of English is desirable. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset.
Additional Notes: The contract for this position is expected to last until December 31, 2025, with the possibility of extension based on project needs. The role is full-time and involves working closely with various stakeholders within the UNDP and the DPU.
