Job Overview:
The Global Polio Eradication Initiative (GPEI) aims to ensure future generations are free from polio paralysis. The role of the SBC Data Specialist is crucial in managing UNICEF's accountability during polio outbreaks, which are considered public health emergencies. The position involves supporting Nigeria's outbreak response and preparedness efforts, particularly in managing data related to social behavior change, gender assessments, and misinformation management. The specialist will work closely with national and state teams to build capacity in data collection, analysis, and interpretation, ensuring effective responses to poliovirus outbreaks. The expected outputs include developing systematic processes, guidance documents, and tools for analyzing social data, as well as training packages for data management in polio outbreak responses.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Build capacity of national and state teams on data collection, analysis, and interpretation for polio SBC, gender, and misinformation management.
  • Develop and update tools and guidance for data management.
  • Provide technical assistance and in-country training.
  • Analyze pre-campaign, campaign, and post-campaign data for key geographies.
  • Design tools for gender assessments during outbreaks.
  • Compile and coordinate key performance indicators for SBC.
  • Manage and analyze Volunteer Community Mobiliser (VCM) data.
  • Prepare data analysis reports for Supplementary Immunization Activities (SIAs).
  • Generate quarterly KPI reports and monthly activity summaries.

Required Qualifications:

Educational Background:
Candidates must possess an advanced university degree (master's) in computer science, statistics, or social sciences, which provides the foundational knowledge necessary for the analytical and technical aspects of the role.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in relevant fields such as information management, analytics, data visualization, statistics, or monitoring and evaluation, ideally within a public health context. This experience is essential for effectively managing data related to polio outbreak responses and ensuring timely and accurate reporting.

Languages:
Fluency in English is required for this position. Knowledge of another official UN language is considered an asset, enhancing communication and collaboration in a diverse work environment.
