Job Overview:
The Women for Bees initiative is a global project aimed at empowering women beekeepers through comprehensive training, networking opportunities, and research. This initiative has already engaged participants from various countries, including Bulgaria, Cambodia, China, France, Slovenia, the Russian Federation, and Rwanda, with plans to expand further. The Community Building Consultant will play a crucial role in organizing federative activities that will create a vibrant and sustainable network of women beekeepers. This position requires a dynamic individual who can foster knowledge exchange, ensure project ownership among participants, and enhance long-term engagement within the community. The consultant will be responsible for planning and managing key events, supporting community meetings, and maintaining community engagement through regular activities and discussions.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Organize key events: Plan and manage thematic sessions and a potential exhibition at the 2025 Apimondia Congress, ensuring that beekeepers from biosphere reserves worldwide can attend.
  • Support national and regional community meetings: Coordinate and facilitate in-person national and regional alumni meetings in collaboration with relevant UNESCO field offices.
  • Sustain community engagement: Maintain community vibrancy through regular networking activities, check-ins, group discussions, and thematic forums, such as meliponiculture.
  • Enable one-on-one exchanges between members on specific topics of interest and collaborate with other beekeeping networks, including contributing to World Bee Day 202
  • Enhance communication outputs: Improve communication tools and materials to support community activities, utilizing digital assets effectively.

Required Qualifications:
  • Education: A university degree (Bachelor’s or higher) in social sciences, communications, international development, environmental studies, or a related field.
  • Work Experience: At least 3 years of experience in community building, network facilitation, or stakeholder engagement, preferably with international organizations, NGOs, or community-based projects in environmental conservation or sustainable development. Proven experience in organizing events, facilitating discussions, and managing online communities.
  • Skills and competencies: Strong facilitation and community engagement skills, excellent organizational abilities, and the capacity to work independently while coordinating across multiple stakeholders. Strong writing, communication, and presentation skills are essential, along with familiarity with digital communication tools, including social media and online collaboration platforms.

Educational Background:
A university degree (Bachelor’s or higher) in relevant fields such as social sciences, communications, international development, or environmental studies is required. A Master’s degree in community development, communications, environmental management, or international relations is desirable.

Experience:
Candidates should have at least 3 years of relevant experience in community building, network facilitation, or stakeholder engagement. Experience working with international organizations, NGOs, or community-based projects, particularly in environmental conservation or sustainable development, is preferred. A proven track record of organizing events and facilitating discussions is essential.

Languages:
Excellent knowledge of the English language (both written and spoken) is mandatory. Additional fluency in French, Chinese, Spanish, or other widely spoken languages is considered desirable.
