Job Overview: The position of Procurement Process IC - Individual contractor involves developing a national strategy and implementation plan for data security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security and data management. The contractor will be responsible for assessing the current data security landscape, identifying gaps, and proposing actionable strategies to enhance data protection measures. This role requires a deep understanding of data governance, risk management, and compliance frameworks. The contractor will also engage with various stakeholders, including government agencies and private sector partners, to ensure that the proposed strategies align with national priorities and international best practices. The position is home-based but requires travel to Vanuatu for a total of 15 days, split across two trips, to facilitate stakeholder consultations and gather necessary insights for the strategy development.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Conduct a comprehensive assessment of the current data security framework in Fiji, identifying strengths, weaknesses, and areas for improvement.
Develop a national strategy for data security that aligns with international standards and best practices.
Create an implementation plan that outlines specific actions, timelines, and responsible parties for executing the strategy.
Engage with key stakeholders, including government officials, private sector representatives, and civil society organizations, to gather input and build consensus around the proposed strategy.
Prepare detailed reports and presentations to communicate findings and recommendations to stakeholders.
Monitor and evaluate the implementation of the strategy, providing ongoing support and guidance as needed.
Ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations related to data protection and privacy.
Required Qualifications:
Proven experience in developing data security strategies and implementation plans, preferably in a governmental or international development context.
Strong knowledge of data governance, risk management, and compliance frameworks.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess complex situations and propose effective solutions.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
Educational Background: A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in information technology, cybersecurity, data management, or a related field. A master’s degree or relevant certifications in data security or information management is highly desirable.
Experience: At least 5 years of relevant professional experience in data security, information management, or a related field. Experience working with international organizations or in developing countries is an advantage.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory. Knowledge of Fijian or other local languages is considered an asset.
Additional Notes: The contract duration is for 35 working days distributed over a period of 5 months. This position is classified as an individual contractor role, which may involve both full-time and part-time commitments depending on the project needs. The contractor will be required to travel to Vanuatu for stakeholder engagement, and all travel expenses will be covered as per UNCDF policies. Compensation will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
