The UNIC Ouagadougou operates under the Information Centres Service (ICS) and is part of the Campaigns and Country Operations Division (CCOD) within the Department of Global Communications (DGC). Job Overview:
The Digital Communications Officer will play a crucial role in implementing global communication strategies and campaigns aimed at engaging local audiences on UN priority issues and major events. This position involves coordinating activities, monitoring progress, reporting outcomes, and analyzing the effectiveness of communication strategies. The officer will participate in planning outreach events and social cohesion activities, utilizing digital communication tools to maximize engagement. Duties and Responsibilities:
The incumbent will be responsible for a wide range of duties, including: assisting in the implementation of global communication strategies; coordinating outreach events and social cohesion activities; developing digital campaigns using social media and websites; researching and compiling information for digital communication products; monitoring and analyzing current events and public opinion; preparing new material for websites; collecting and producing digital content in various formats; maintaining and updating websites; assisting in public information outreach; acting as a focal point for digital communications issues; providing communication support to Resident Coordinators; monitoring and reporting on activities; performing general administrative duties; and providing guidance to junior colleagues and interns. The role requires a comprehensive understanding of digital communication tools and the ability to adapt content for various platforms, ensuring effective engagement with local audiences.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a high school diploma or equivalent. Additionally, a minimum of seven years of experience in digital communications, social media, public information, or public relations is required. Experience with digital communication tools, including database-driven websites and social media platforms, is essential. Candidates should have a proven track record of creating content for digital publishing formats and adapting various communication materials for online platforms. Experience within the United Nations Common System or a comparable international organization is desirable, as is experience in graphic design and desktop publishing using software such as Adobe Photoshop and Adobe InDesign. Familiarity with digital photography is also beneficial.

Educational Background:
A high school diploma or equivalent is the minimum educational requirement for this position.
