Job Overview:
The EpiC Burkina Faso Deputy Project Director plays a crucial role in supporting the Project Director by providing overall leadership, management, and strategic direction for the EpiC project in Burkina Faso. This position is responsible for overseeing the implementation of the EpiC portfolio, which includes HIV, Global Health security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Security (GHS), Maternal and Child Health (MCH), and Nutrition initiatives. The Deputy Project Director will act as the lead in the absence of the Project Director and will ensure that project goals and objectives are achieved within the specified time frame and budget. This role involves providing technical and management leadership to the country project, ensuring successful implementation of the work plan, monitoring expenditures in line with the approved budget, and identifying and mitigating risks associated with the project.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Deputy Project Director will lead the technical, operational, and tactical activities for the project. Key responsibilities include ensuring the development and submission of high-quality technical deliverables such as work plans and annual reports on schedule and within budget. The Deputy PD will develop and implement processes to achieve strategic technical goals, provide direction to ensure compliance with client agreements and government regulations, and manage monitoring and evaluation activities. They will also oversee relationships with subcontracted organizations, promote project success through storytelling and outreach, support knowledge management, and guide staff in training and process improvement initiatives. Additionally, the Deputy PD will engage in writing publications and may contribute to developing proposals for new projects, while also identifying technical recommendations for executive management.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess comprehensive knowledge of project management and technical development concepts, practices, and procedures. Excellent oral and written communication skills are essential, along with strong organizational and problem-solving abilities. The ideal candidate should demonstrate project management and technical skills, with the ability to influence and motivate others. A thorough understanding of specialized technical areas such as HIV, MNCH, Nutrition, and GHS is required, along with proven leadership skills and the ability to meet budgets, schedules, and performance requirements.

Educational Background:
A Master’s Degree or its international equivalent in fields such as Public Health, International Development, Management, Civil Society, Communication and Social Marketing, Economic Development, Education, Environment, Nutrition, or Research is required. Project Management (PM) Certification is preferred.

Experience:
The position typically requires a minimum of 12+ years of relevant technical/project management experience, including at least 8+ years in leadership roles with strong business acumen and/or line management experience. Prior work experience in an international non-governmental organization (NGO) is preferred, highlighting the need for a candidate with a robust background in managing complex projects in diverse environments.

Languages:
Fluency in French is mandatory, with advanced proficiency in English preferred. The ability to communicate effectively in both languages is crucial for the role, given the diverse stakeholders involved in the project.

Additional Notes:
This position is based in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, and may require less than 25% travel. The expected hiring salary range for this role is XOF 25,000,000 - 35,000,000 annually for basic salary.
