Job Overview:
The Data Visualization Analyst position is crucial for enhancing data visualization and analysis within the KOICA project and other programs at the UNFPA Burkina Faso office. The role involves transforming complex data into clear, actionable insights that support decision-making, performance monitoring, and strategic communication. The analyst will work closely with various teams to ensure data quality and coherence, contributing to a results-oriented management approach. This position is vital for improving the quality of data analysis and visualization, which is essential for effective program management and stakeholder communication. The analyst will also play a key role in developing dashboards, infographics, and other visual products that convey important information to decision-makers and partners.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The primary responsibilities of the Data Visualization Analyst include ensuring data quality and management by verifying the accuracy and consistency of data from various sources, identifying discrepancies, and proposing corrective measures. The analyst will support the harmonization of data collection tools and indicators, maintain project databases, and ensure structured archiving of data and reports. Additionally, the analyst will collect, process, analyze, and interpret program data, identify trends and performance gaps, and produce periodic performance analyses. The role also involves designing and maintaining interactive dashboards, producing visualizations, and translating complex information into understandable formats. The analyst will contribute to knowledge management by documenting results and best practices, training UNFPA staff and partners on data visualization tools, and collaborating with teams to enhance data utilization in decision-making and communication.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Master's degree in statistics, demography, economics, mathematics, data science, information systems, public health, or a related field. Alternatively, a Bachelor's degree in these areas with relevant professional experience is acceptable. A minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in data analysis, database management, data visualization, or information management is required. Experience in developing dashboards and visualizations, as well as familiarity with international development, humanitarian projects, or UN systems, is advantageous. Proficiency in data visualization tools (such as Power BI or Tableau), statistical analysis tools (like Excel, R, SPSS, Stata, or Python), and electronic data collection methods is essential. Knowledge of relational databases (SQL) and geographic information systems (GIS) is a plus.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a Master's degree in relevant fields such as statistics, demography, economics, mathematics, data science, information systems, or public health. Candidates with a Bachelor's degree in these areas may also be considered if they have additional relevant professional experience. This educational foundation is critical for the analytical and technical skills needed to perform the duties of the Data Visualization Analyst effectively.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in data analysis, database management, and data visualization. Candidates should have a proven track record in developing dashboards and visualizations, particularly in the context of international development or humanitarian projects. Experience with donor-funded projects is also beneficial, as is familiarity with issues related to sexual and reproductive health, gender, and population development.

Languages:
Fluency in French is mandatory for this position, as it is the primary language of communication within the organization and the region. Knowledge of English is considered an asset, as it may facilitate communication with international partners and stakeholders.

Additional Notes:
The initial contract duration for this position is six (6) months, contingent upon the performance of the incumbent and the availability of funding. The consultant will be based at the UNFPA country office in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso.
