Job Posting Organization:
The job is posted by UNDP (United Nations Development Programme), which is a global development network of the United Nations. Established in 1965, UNDP operates in approximately 170 countries and territories, working to eradicate poverty and reduce inequalities through sustainable development. The organization focuses on various areas including democratic governance, peacebuilding, climate change, and disaster resilience, and aims to help countries achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). UNDP has a diverse workforce of over 17,000 employees and collaborates with governments, civil society, and the private sector to implement its programs and initiatives.

Job Overview:
The position involves recruiting a consultant to conduct a study on the contributions of the private sector to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Cameroon. The consultant will be expected to analyze the current contributions of private sector entities towards achieving the SDGs, identify gaps, and provide recommendations for enhancing these contributions. The study aims to provide insights that will inform policy-making and strategic planning for both the private sector and governmental bodies in Cameroon. The consultant will work closely with UNDP and other stakeholders to ensure that the study is comprehensive and aligns with national development priorities.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Conduct a thorough analysis of the private sector's contributions to the SDGs in Cameroon, including data collection and stakeholder interviews.
  • Identify key sectors and companies that are making significant contributions and assess the impact of their initiatives.
  • Develop a framework for measuring and reporting on private sector contributions to the SDGs.
  • Prepare a detailed report outlining findings, conclusions, and actionable recommendations for enhancing private sector engagement in sustainable development.
  • Present findings to UNDP and relevant stakeholders, facilitating discussions on the implications of the study.
  • Collaborate with UNDP staff and other consultants to ensure the study aligns with broader UNDP initiatives and objectives.

Required Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in conducting research and analysis related to sustainable development, particularly in the context of the private sector.
  • Strong understanding of the Sustainable Development Goals and their relevance to the private sector.
  • Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to synthesize complex information into clear and actionable insights.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present findings to diverse audiences.
  • Familiarity with the Cameroonian context and the private sector landscape is highly desirable.

Educational Background:
A Master's degree or higher in a relevant field such as economics, development studies, business administration, or a related discipline is required. Additional certifications or training in sustainable development or corporate social responsibility would be an asset.

Experience:
A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in research, consultancy, or a related field, with a focus on sustainable development and the private sector. Experience working with international organizations or NGOs is preferred.

Languages:
Fluency in French is mandatory, as the position requires communication with local stakeholders. Proficiency in English is also desirable, as it may be necessary for reporting and communication with international partners.

Additional Notes:
The consultancy is expected to last for a period of 60 days. This is a contract position, and the consultant will be expected to work independently while coordinating with UNDP. The position is open to both national and international candidates, and compensation will be commensurate with experience and qualifications. Interested candidates must submit their proposals through the UNDP supplier portal by the specified deadline.
