Job Overview: The Digital Communications Consultant position at UNFPA Kyrgyzstan Country Office is a pivotal role aimed at enhancing the organization's digital presence and engagement through effective social media strategies. The consultant will be responsible for planning and implementing digital communication strategies that align with UNFPA's mission and programmatic priorities. This includes content creation, social media management, audience engagement, and analytics. The consultant will work closely with internal teams to ensure that messaging is consistent and impactful, contributing to the overall goals of UNFPA in Kyrgyzstan. The role requires a dynamic individual who can adapt to the fast-paced nature of digital communications and is passionate about promoting gender equality and reproductive health.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Social Media and Digital Engagement: The consultant will be responsible for scheduling at least 12-15 social media posts per month across various platforms, ensuring that 80% of messages and comments requiring engagement are responded to within 24 hours. They will conduct monthly trend analysis and reporting to inform engagement strategies, collaborate with internal teams to align key messages with UNFPA Kyrgyzstan’s programmatic priorities, and implement at least one paid social media campaign per month. The consultant will aim for a 2-5% monthly increase in audience engagement and reach, providing a comprehensive performance report analyzing reach, engagement, and impact.
Content Production & Visual Storytelling: The consultant will produce at least 6 reels videos and 6-8 visual assets (infographics, banners, carousels) monthly, ensuring that all published content adheres to UNFPA branding and communication guidelines. They will also manage digital assets, updating and categorizing at least 20-30 new assets per month.
Strategic Digital Campaigns & Related Partnerships: The consultant will implement at least one thematic digital campaign every 2-3 months, establish partnerships with 1-2 influencers or digital collaborators per month, and secure at least 1-2 media mentions or collaborations monthly.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must have a secondary school completion, with a first university degree in communication, marketing, media, law, literature, public relations, development studies, international development, or any other relevant field considered an asset. A minimum of 2 years of working experience in social media, digital marketing, event management, and editorial production is required, preferably within NGOs, private companies, publishing outlets, or international organizations. Candidates should demonstrate experience in developing and implementing social media or digital marketing strategies, particularly with a focus on gender equality, girls' empowerment, sexual and reproductive health (SRH), family planning, and data visualization. Proficiency in design software such as Photoshop and InDesign, as well as video production tools like Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects, is essential.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a secondary school completion, with a first university degree in relevant fields such as communication, marketing, media, law, literature, public relations, development studies, or international development being an asset. This educational foundation is crucial for understanding the complexities of digital communications and effectively engaging with diverse audiences.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in social media, digital marketing, event management, and editorial production. Candidates should have a proven track record in developing and implementing effective social media strategies, particularly those that focus on gender equality and youth empowerment. Experience in video production and content creation for social media platforms is also essential, along with the ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines.
Languages: Proven ability to write flawless copy in both Kyrgyz and Russian on tight deadlines is required for this position. Fluency in English is considered an asset, as it enhances communication with international stakeholders and broadens the consultant's ability to engage with diverse audiences.
Additional Notes: This position is open exclusively to Kyrgyzstan nationals and is classified as a Local Individual Consultant (IC) role. The contract duration is for 10 months, with the possibility of extension, and it is part-time. The closing date for applications is 20 February 202
The payment for this role is set at the UN level G-2, with a monthly fee ranging from USD 700-800, subject to negotiation. Payment will be made in monthly installments upon satisfactory delivery of associated deliverables and submission of progress reports.
