The OSCE Programme Office in Bishkek (POiB) is an integral part of the Organization for security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), which was established to assist the host Government in implementing OSCE commitments and relevant international obligations and standards. The POiB focuses on various aspects of governance, security, and cooperation within the region. The office operates with a mission to promote peace, stability, and democracy in the Kyrgyz Republic and has been actively involved in various projects aimed at strengthening democratic governance and enhancing youth engagement in peacebuilding efforts. Job Overview:
The internship-position" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">internship position within the Democratic Governance and Youth Unit of the OSCE Programme Office in Bishkek is designed for individuals who are eager to gain practical experience in the field of democratic governance and youth engagement. The intern will work under the direct supervision of the National Programme Officer and Programme Associates, contributing to various project activities aimed at promoting parliamentary democracy and enhancing youth potential in peacebuilding. The role involves assisting in the preparation and implementation of project activities, gathering data for monitoring and evaluation, and developing inputs for project proposals and programmatic documents. The intern will also engage in research and analysis on relevant topics, attend meetings, and assist in drafting official correspondence. This position offers a unique opportunity to learn about the workings of an international organization and to contribute to meaningful projects that impact the local community.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The selected intern will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including but not limited to: assisting the project implementation team in the preparation and execution of project activities; gathering and analyzing data for monitoring and evaluation purposes; developing inputs for project proposals and other programmatic documents, such as internal reports and presentations; maintaining effective cooperation with the Unit’s project partners; conducting background research and analysis on assigned topics; attending internal and external meetings, taking minutes, and following up on associated tasks; drafting initial versions of official correspondence, including invitation letters and general letters; managing files and archives; performing administrative duties such as editing and formatting project documents; translating texts as requested by the Supervisor; and undertaking other work-related duties as required by the Supervisor.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must be between 19 and 30 years old and have completed at least two years of full-time studies from an accredited institution or have obtained a first or advanced degree in a field relevant to the OSCE’s mandate within the last two years. Applicants must be citizens of or permanent residents in the Kyrgyz Republic. Studies should be in an academic field related to the OSCE portfolio, such as Political Science, International Relations, Social Science, or Public Administration. A professional interest in topics related to democratic governance, parliamentarianism, and youth engagement in peacebuilding is essential. Knowledge of the Central Asian region and its societal and political processes is highly desirable. Candidates should possess fluency in English, Russian, and Kyrgyz, along with excellent communication skills. Good organizational skills, strong analytical and research capabilities, and the ability to work effectively in a team with diverse backgrounds are also required.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this internship includes a minimum of two years of full-time studies in a relevant academic field, or a completed first or advanced degree in areas such as Political Science, International Relations, Social Science, or Public Administration. This educational foundation is crucial for understanding the complexities of democratic governance and the OSCE’s mandate.

Experience:
While prior professional experience is not mandatory, candidates should demonstrate a strong interest in the fields of democratic governance, youth engagement, and international relations. Any relevant volunteer work, internships, or academic projects that showcase the candidate's commitment to these areas will be considered an asset.

Languages:
Fluency in English, Russian, and Kyrgyz is mandatory for this position. Candidates should possess excellent communication skills in these languages, as the role involves drafting correspondence and translating texts. Knowledge of additional languages may be considered an advantage but is not required.

Additional Notes:
This internship is a short-term position with a full-time schedule. The OSCE is unable to provide any remuneration or cover expenses incurred during the internship. However, the selected intern may participate in a group health insurance scheme at their own expense. The internship does not guarantee future employment with the OSCE.
