The NDC Partnership, a coalition of nearly 200 countries and institutions, aims to drive transformational climate action through sustainable development, facilitating the implementation of Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) to combat climate change.

Job Overview:
The NDC Partnership Liaison Officer will act as the primary interface between the NDC Partnership and the government of Jordan, facilitating coordination and communication among various stakeholders. This role involves supporting the implementation of the NDC by enhancing national coordination, resource mobilization, and monitoring progress. The incumbent will work closely with the Ministry of Environment and will be responsible for ensuring effective communication about the NDC Partnership's engagement in the country, assisting in the development of the NDC Implementation Plan, and organizing NDC-related meetings and events. The position requires the use of personal equipment and software, as it is a home-based role within government facilities in Jordan.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Coordination and communication with key stakeholders: Ensure effective communication regarding the NDC Partnership's engagement, facilitate coordination among partners, and advise on aligning climate projects with programmatic goals.
  • Support the Development of NDC Implementation Plan: Collaborate with partners to develop the Implementation Plan, engage with local stakeholders, and document changes in the operating environment.
  • Monitoring the progress of country engagement: Track engagement progress, prepare quarterly reports, and evaluate the results of the NDC Partnership's efforts.
  • Organizing NDC-related meetings: Facilitate dialogues and support the government in preparing for significant climate events to showcase NDC progress.

Required Qualifications:
A master’s degree in public policy, development, climate change, natural resource management, environmental management, or a related field is required. Alternatively, a bachelor's degree with an additional 2 years of relevant experience may be accepted. Candidates must have at least 5 years of experience in climate change, project management, and stakeholder engagement, with knowledge of national climate policies and frameworks. Experience in facilitating NDC implementation and fostering networks with senior leaders is an asset. Excellent communication skills and proficiency in MS Office are also required.

Educational Background:
Candidates must possess a master’s degree in a relevant field such as public policy, climate change, or environmental management. A bachelor's degree combined with additional relevant work experience may be considered equivalent to an advanced degree.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 5 years of experience in the public or private sector, focusing on climate change, project management, and stakeholder engagement. Familiarity with multilateral governance processes related to climate change and NDCs is essential. Experience in facilitating NDC implementation and knowledge of the local context is highly desirable.

Languages:
Proficiency in both Arabic and English is mandatory for this position, ensuring effective communication with local and international stakeholders.

This is a local position based in Jordan, requiring the incumbent to be a national of Jordan or possess a valid residence permit. The contract duration is for one year, with a maximum of 220 working days and the possibility of extension based on performance and funding availability.
