Job Posting Organization:
The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) is the lead UN agency focused on sexual and reproductive health and rights, aiming to ensure that every pregnancy is wanted, every childbirth is safe, and every young person's potential is fulfilled. Established in 1969, UNFPA operates in over 150 countries and territories, working to improve the lives of women and girls, and to promote gender equality. The organization is committed to achieving three transformative results by 2030: ending preventable maternal deaths, ending unmet need for family planning, and ending gender-based violence and harmful practices. UNFPA's strategic plan for 2022-2025 emphasizes the importance of addressing the impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic on women's and girls' access to health services and rights, and calls for a collective effort to build forward better. UNFPA values principled and ethical staff who embody international norms and standards, and who are dedicated to delivering high-impact results in their programs.

Job Overview:
The consultancy position is designed to support UNFPA Myanmar's efforts in building capacity for gender-based violence (GBV) prevention and response interventions in targeted states. The consultant will play a crucial role in enhancing the capabilities of partner organizations, particularly in areas such as GBV case management, safe house operations, and hotline/helpline services. This role is vital in ensuring that UNFPA's GBV program is effectively implemented and coordinated, especially in light of the increasing humanitarian needs and associated GBV risks. The consultant will be responsible for planning and organizing various capacity-building interventions, facilitating training sessions, and providing technical support to implementing partners and civil society organizations (CSOs). The overarching goal is to strengthen partnerships with GBV partners, focusing on marginalized and vulnerable populations, including young people.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The national consultant will have a comprehensive set of responsibilities, including: coordinating and facilitating training sessions and coaching for GBV prevention and response actors; providing technical support to implementing partners and CSOs for case management and psychosocial interventions for GBV survivors; promoting standardized operations for safe houses and hotlines; supporting the review and adaptation of training materials to integrate best practices; disseminating guidelines and protocols for GBV programming; building networks for accelerated GBV program implementation; expanding the CSO network to respond effectively to GBV in emergencies; collecting and compiling program activity information; conducting monitoring and supervision of GBV interventions; and performing other duties as assigned by UNFPA.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an advanced university degree in social work, social sciences, gender studies, anthropology, law, sociology, international relations, or a related field. Additionally, a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in programming and/or training on gender and GBV prevention and response is required. Experience in developing and delivering GBV training components to various partners, including NGOs and community-level participants, is essential. Field experience in addressing gender and GBV issues in emergency and post-conflict contexts is preferred, along with demonstrated experience in providing technical assistance to improve case management and safe house operations. Candidates should also have a strong understanding of Myanmar's socio-cultural issues and legal provisions, as well as experience in applying conflict sensitivity and a 'do no harm' approach in programming.

Educational Background:
An advanced university degree in relevant fields such as social work, social sciences, gender studies, anthropology, law, sociology, or international relations is required for this position. This educational background is crucial for understanding the complexities of gender-based violence and the socio-cultural dynamics in Myanmar.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 2 years of relevant working experience in programming and training related to gender and GBV prevention and response. Candidates should have experience in developing and delivering training components, as well as field experience in integrating gender and GBV issues in emergency and post-conflict contexts. Demonstrated experience in providing technical assistance to service providers to enhance the quality of GBV interventions is preferred.

Languages:
Fluency in reading and writing in both Myanmar and English is mandatory for this position. Proficiency in these languages is essential for effective communication and training delivery within the context of GBV programming.

Additional Notes:
The position is a consultancy role with a focus on capacity building for GBV prevention and response. UNFPA promotes a work environment that values gender equality, diversity, and integrity, and encourages applications from women, LGBTQIA+ individuals, minority ethnic groups, indigenous populations, and persons with disabilities. The organization is committed to ensuring gender parity and equal opportunities in recruitment and training. The selection process may involve background checks, medical clearance, and other administrative requirements. UNFPA does not charge any fees during the application or recruitment process.
