Job Overview:
The Project Assistant position at IOM Greece is integral to the implementation of a medical project aimed at providing essential medical, nursing, and psychosocial-support" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">psychosocial support services to asylum seekers and beneficiaries of temporary protection. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of the National Project Officer and the Project Assistant, assisting in the coordination, monitoring, and reporting of project activities. This role requires daily oversight of service provision by external providers to ensure compliance with contractual obligations and to meet the needs of beneficiaries effectively. The Project Assistant will collaborate closely with medical and psychosocial teams, addressing challenges that arise in the field and ensuring adherence to IOM's internal regulations and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). The position also involves conducting vulnerability assessments, managing protection cases, and maintaining comprehensive case files, all while ensuring beneficiaries are informed about their cases and services available to them.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Project Assistant include:
  • Assisting in the implementation and monitoring of project activities related to medical and psychosocial support services.
  • Daily supervision of service providers to ensure compliance with contractual obligations.
  • Collaborating with medical and psychosocial teams for effective service delivery.
  • Conducting vulnerability assessments for migrants and refugees and addressing their protection needs.
  • Referring vulnerable groups to specialized protection services.
  • Maintaining updated case files and ensuring timely updates in the project database.
  • Mapping available services and ensuring access for migrants and refugees.
  • Developing individual action plans for beneficiaries.
  • Participating in team meetings to discuss case management and service provision challenges. 1
  • Escorting beneficiaries to health facilities when necessary. 1
  • Performing additional duties as assigned by supervisors.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a university degree in Social Work from an accredited institution, with a minimum of two years of relevant work experience. A Master's degree in Social Work is considered an advantage. Additionally, candidates should have a license to practice social work, and membership with the Association of Greek Social Workers is also advantageous. Familiarity with direct assistance to migrants and refugees, as well as experience in a multicultural environment, is preferred.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a university degree in Social Work from an accredited academic institution. Accredited universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database. A Master's degree in the same field is an advantage, and candidates must hold a valid license to practice social work.

Experience:
The position requires previous experience in a similar role, with a preference for candidates who have familiarity with direct assistance to migrants and/or refugees. Experience working in a multicultural environment is also beneficial, as it enhances the candidate's ability to navigate diverse cultural contexts and challenges.

Languages:
Fluency in English and Greek, both written and oral, is mandatory for this position. Proficiency in additional languages such as French and Spanish is considered a plus, as IOM's official languages include these. Language proficiency will be evaluated during the selection process, which may involve written and/or oral assessments.

This position is subject to local recruitment, and only candidates holding a valid residence and work permit for Greece will be eligible for consideration.
