Job Overview: The Social Protection Project Manager will oversee the implementation of significant social protection projects in Lebanon, aligning with the UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework. The role involves providing technical support and policy advice to various stakeholders, including government entities and social partners, to enhance the national social protection systems. The incumbent will be responsible for managing project activities, ensuring compliance with ILO policies, and facilitating the integration of development and humanitarian agendas in the social protection sector. The position requires a strategic approach to project management, advocacy, and partnership building to effectively address the social protection needs in Lebanon, particularly in response to the ongoing Syria refugee crisis.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Manage, plan, develop, and coordinate the implementation of social protection projects in Lebanon, ensuring timely delivery of outputs and adherence to ILO policies.
Ensure effective reporting and dissemination of project activities and outcomes. 1
Identify capacity development needs and deliver training workshops for stakeholders. 1
Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess an advanced university degree in economics, public administration, management, social science, development studies, or a related field. A first-level university degree with additional relevant experience may be accepted in lieu of an advanced degree. Candidates should demonstrate a strong understanding of social protection systems and policies, particularly in the context of Lebanon and the Arab region.
Educational Background: An advanced university degree in a relevant field is required. A Bachelor’s degree with additional relevant experience may be considered. Candidates should have a solid academic foundation in economics, public administration, or social sciences to effectively manage and implement social protection projects.
Experience: Candidates must have at least seven years of relevant experience in development cooperation activities, including international experience. This should include leadership roles in project implementation, particularly in social security and social protection. Proven management experience in complex development projects, along with expertise in partnership building and resource mobilization, is essential. Familiarity with ILO policies and procedures is advantageous, as is experience in the Arab region.
Languages: Excellent command of English is mandatory. Knowledge of Arabic is considered an advantage, as it will facilitate communication with local stakeholders and enhance project effectiveness.
