Job Overview:
This internship-position" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">internship position is designed to provide practical experience in the operations of the United Nations, specifically under the guidance of the Special Assistant to the Under-Secretary-General. The intern will engage in a variety of tasks that contribute to the development and implementation of standard operational procedures, process innovation, and program support activities. The role is intended to be full-time, requiring a commitment of 35 hours per week, and is expected to last between 3 to 6 months. The intern will have the opportunity to work closely with UN staff, gaining insights into the workings of the organization and contributing to meaningful projects that enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern will be responsible for several key tasks:
  • Contributing to the definition of Standard Operational Procedures by assisting in documenting existing procedures and defining new ones, focusing on streamlining processes and identifying opportunities for enhanced efficiency.
  • Supporting process innovation efforts by utilizing AI and process automation to improve service delivery and reduce redundancies.
  • Participating in program support activities, which may include organizing events and meetings, managing procurement processes, and engaging with stakeholders to facilitate outreach efforts. The intern will report directly to the Special Assistant of the Under-Secretary-General and will be expected to collaborate with various teams within the UN.

Required Qualifications:
Applicants must meet one of the following criteria: (a) be enrolled in or have completed a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in or have completed the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent). While professional work experience is not required for the UN Internship Programme, candidates should have a field of study that closely relates to the internship they are applying for. Additionally, applicants must demonstrate proficiency in standard software applications, particularly MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and MS Teams.

Educational Background:
Candidates must be students in their final year of a first university degree (bachelor's or equivalent), or enrolled in or have completed a Master's or Ph.D. program. Proof of enrollment or completion must be provided with the application, and an official certificate will be required at a later stage. The educational background should ideally align with the responsibilities of the internship, emphasizing relevant fields of study.

Experience:
While no professional work experience is required, candidates should have relevant academic experience or coursework that pertains to the internship's focus.
