Job Overview: The position of Legal Specialist (International Consultant) is designed for an individual contractor who will provide legal expertise and support to the UNDP in Fiji. Duties and Responsibilities: The Legal Specialist will be tasked with several key responsibilities, including but not limited to:
Reviewing and advising on legal documents related to procurement processes, ensuring compliance with UNDP policies and law" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">international law.
Providing legal opinions and recommendations on procurement strategies and contract negotiations.
Assisting in the preparation of tender documents and ensuring that all legal requirements are met.
Conducting legal research to support procurement activities and resolve any legal disputes that may arise.
Collaborating with procurement teams to develop best practices and improve procurement processes.
Engaging with stakeholders to clarify legal aspects of procurement and provide training as necessary.
Documenting all legal advice and maintaining records of legal consultations and decisions made during the procurement process.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a strong legal background with a focus on procurement law. A thorough understanding of international legal standards and UNDP procurement policies is essential. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate complex legal concepts clearly and effectively. Strong negotiation skills and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams are also required. Candidates should be proficient in using legal research tools and have experience in drafting legal documents.
Educational Background: A minimum of a Master’s degree in Law, International Law, or a related field is required.
