Job Overview:
The Child Protection Officer, NOA, TA will be based in the Mindanao Field Office, Cotabato City, where the Child Protection Programme is a key output of the Country Programme. The officer will provide professional technical, operational, and administrative assistance throughout the programming process for child protection programmes/projects, including Birth Registration. This role involves applying theoretical and technical skills in researching, collecting, analyzing, and presenting technical programme information while adhering to organizational rules and procedures. The officer will support the development and formulation of the Child Protection Programme within the Country Programme, ensuring that interventions are sustainable and scaled up by engaging with national and local government units (LGUs).

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Support programme development and planning by researching and analyzing regional and national trends in political, protection, social, and economic development.
  • Collect, analyze, verify, and synthesize information to facilitate programme development and preparation.
  • Prepare technical reports and inputs for programme documentation, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Facilitate the establishment of sectoral programme goals, objectives, strategies, and results-based planning.
  • Provide technical and administrative support throughout all stages of programming processes, including executing and administering technical programme transactions.
  • Monitor and evaluate programme implementation, keeping records of reports and assessments.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues and partners to address implementation issues and suggest solutions.
  • Undertake field visits and surveys to assess progress and provide technical support.
  • Build and sustain partnerships with government counterparts and national stakeholders. 1
  • Participate in inter-agency meetings to collaborate on programming and integrate UNICEF’s strategies with UNDAF development processes. 1
  • Identify and share lessons learned for knowledge development and capacity building.

Required Qualifications:
  • A university degree in international development, human rights, psychology, sociology, law" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">international law, or another relevant social science field is required.
  • A minimum of one year of professional experience in social development planning and management in child protection areas is required.
  • Experience in a humanitarian setting is considered an asset.
  • Skills in programme/project management, capacity development, analyzing, applying technical expertise, and learning and researching are essential.

Educational Background:
Candidates must possess a university degree in one of the following fields: international development, human rights, psychology, sociology, international law, or another relevant social science field. This educational background is crucial for understanding the complexities of child protection and social development.

Experience:
Candidates should have at least one year of professional experience in social development planning and management, specifically in child protection-related areas. Experience working in humanitarian settings is advantageous and will be viewed favorably during the selection process.

Languages:
Fluency in English is required for this position. Knowledge of another official UN language or the local language of the duty station is considered an asset, enhancing communication and collaboration with local stakeholders and partners.
