Job Overview:
The Gender and GBV Analyst plays a crucial role in analyzing and assessing political, social, economic, and cultural trends related to gender and gender-based violence (GBV) in Mindanao, particularly in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM). This position involves coordinating the implementation, monitoring, and reporting of gender equality and GBV prevention and response initiatives. The Analyst will work closely with the UNFPA Head of Sub-Office in Cotabato and the Gender and GBV Team Leader in Manila to support the roll-out of gender and GBV-related programs. The role requires a focus on policy advocacy, institutional capacity development, and community engagement to reduce GBV and harmful practices, while ensuring that interventions are human-rights-based and inclusive of marginalized groups. The Analyst will also represent UNFPA in relevant coordination mechanisms and ensure that gender and GBV issues are integrated into policies and humanitarian response plans.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Gender and GBV Analyst will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including:
  • Programme Management and Coordination: Coordinating the planning, implementation, monitoring, and reporting of UNFPA Gender and GBV programs, ensuring alignment with the UNFPA Country Programme and responsiveness to local priorities.
  • Technical Support and Capacity Building: Providing technical guidance to government counterparts and partners, and facilitating capacity-building interventions for prevention and response actors.
  • Partnerships, Advocacy, and Resource Mobilization: Contributing to the development of advocacy and resource mobilization plans, representing UNFPA in coordination fora, and liaising with other organizations to develop coherent action plans.
  • Management Responsibilities: Maintaining communication with the Head of the Sub-Office and leading activities related to Gender and GBV communities of practice.
  • Conducting assessments and analyzing data to inform design" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">program design and execution, ensuring adherence to guidelines and protocols.
  • Promoting innovation and knowledge sharing among partners to enhance the effectiveness of GBV prevention and response initiatives.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an advanced degree in a relevant field such as sociology, anthropology, social sciences, women's studies, public health, or international development. They should have at least two years of professional experience in gender and GBV prevention and response, with a strong understanding of gender equality approaches. Experience in program management and working with vulnerable communities is essential. Candidates should also demonstrate knowledge of conflict sensitivity and possess strong analytical and communication skills.

Educational Background:
An advanced degree in a relevant field is required, such as sociology, anthropology, social sciences, women's studies, public health, public administration, international relations, or law. This educational background is crucial for understanding the complexities of gender issues and the socio-political context in which UNFPA operates.

Experience:
The position requires at least two years of professional experience in gender and GBV prevention and response, with a focus on program management. Candidates should have field experience in integrating gender considerations in emergency and post-conflict contexts, as well as practical experience in designing, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating development projects. Familiarity with office software and web-based management systems is also necessary.

Languages:
Fluency in oral and written English and Filipino is essential, with the ability to write clearly and concisely. Knowledge of local languages in BARMM is an asset, as it can enhance communication and engagement with local communities.

The initial fixed-term appointment is for one year, with the possibility of renewal based on satisfactory performance.
