Job Overview: The Yashlyk! The writer/blogger will be responsible for developing engaging content that resonates with the youth audience, ensuring that the information shared is accurate, relevant, and accessible. This role involves conducting research on youth interests and experiences, generating content ideas, and creating articles and social media posts that promote health education and gender equality. The writer/blogger will work closely with the UNFPA Communications Analyst to align content with the organization's communication priorities and will be expected to maintain a consistent posting schedule to keep the audience engaged.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the Yashlyk! Writer/Blogger include:
Developing a monthly publication plan that aligns with UNFPA's communication and program priorities.
Conducting research on youth-related issues to inform content creation.
Advising the medical consultant on popular articles and resources for review and fact-checking.
Conducting weekly polls to gather insights on youth interests and experiences.
Generating engaging questions for weekly polls related to adolescent health and well-being.
Writing at least one article per week based on poll results, which will inform multiple social media posts.
Ensuring all facts are cross-checked with reputable sources and simplifying medical jargon for better understanding.
Conducting quarterly crash-courses on online/blog writing.
Supporting the development of scripts for UNFPA thematic videos. 1
Reporting progress on a monthly basis and adhering to submission deadlines for articles and social media content.
Required Qualifications: The required qualifications for the Yashlyk! Writer/Blogger position include:
A higher education degree (at least a Bachelor’s Degree) in social sciences, linguistics, journalism, medicine, or a related field.
A minimum of 2 years of experience in writing and publishing articles targeted at youth, particularly adolescents.
A strong understanding of UNFPA's mandate, especially regarding adolescent reproductive health and gender equality.
Excellent written communication skills in Russian and Turkmen; knowledge of English is considered an asset.
Proficiency in computer skills and experience with digital technology for content creation and dissemination.
Educational Background: Candidates must possess at least a Bachelor’s Degree in relevant fields such as social sciences, linguistics, journalism, or medicine. This educational background is essential to ensure that the writer/blogger has a solid understanding of the topics they will be addressing, particularly those related to youth and reproductive health.

The consultancy fee will be calculated based on the NO-A level of the UN Salary Scale for National Category, effective November 1, 2020, and will be paid monthly upon successful completion of deliverables.
