Job Overview:
The Shelter Cluster Information Management Officer is responsible for ensuring the provision of updated daily data to the cluster Information Coordinator and coordination-team" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">coordination team. This role involves analyzing, verifying, and preparing reports that align with the identified needs in the Gaza Strip. The officer will develop user-friendly reporting formats that include gender disaggregation and cater to vulnerable groups. They will also promote and train stakeholders on these tools, gather data on shelter needs, and identify gaps in assistance. The position requires coordination with other clusters and OCHA information officers to ensure comprehensive analysis and effective communication of shelter needs and solutions to stakeholders and the affected population.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Monitor project implementation progress on a daily basis.
  • Ensure compliance with NRC policies, tools, handbooks, and guidelines.
  • Target beneficiaries most in need and explore new ways to assist.
  • Prepare periodic progress reports and other documentation.
  • Build capacity of partners and transfer key skills.
  • Promote the rights of beneficiaries in line with the advocacy strategy.
  • Develop simple, user-friendly shelter assistance reporting formats.
  • Train stakeholders on the use of developed reporting tools.
  • Gather and collate data on shelter needs and assistance provided. 1
  • Identify and report gaps in shelter assistance to the Shelter Cluster. 1
  • Develop methods to share information on shelter needs and solutions. 1
  • Coordinate with other cluster and OCHA information officers. 1
  • Promote localization or handover of information management services. 1
  • Provide accurate information for advocacy activities, including producing regular Fact Sheets. 1
  • Maintain the Shelter Cluster – Palestine database and website. 1
  • Participate in relevant working groups facilitated by OCHA.

Required Qualifications:
  • A relevant university/college degree in Computer Science or a related field.
  • Strong experience in data visualization, particularly with Power BI.
  • Proficiency in website development using programming languages such as ASP.NET or C#.
  • Intermediate-level expertise in designing factsheets or reports.
  • At least 3 years of experience in data management, analysis, and reporting.
  • Knowledge of the context in Palestine and experience in coordination and advocacy work.
  • Strong website management and database management skills, particularly in Excel.
  • Significant understanding of complex emergencies and crisis contexts.
  • Political and cultural awareness with experience working in challenging situations. 1
  • Intermediate level of English, both written and verbal.

Educational Background:
Candidates must possess a relevant university or college degree, preferably in Computer Science or a related field. This educational background is essential to ensure the candidate has the necessary technical skills and knowledge to perform the duties associated with data management and reporting effectively.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 3 years of experience in data management, analysis, and reporting. Candidates should have a strong background in data visualization and website development, as well as experience in coordination and advocacy work within humanitarian contexts. Familiarity with the specific challenges and dynamics of the Palestinian context is highly valued.

Languages:
The mandatory language for this position is English, with an intermediate level of proficiency required for both written and verbal communication. Knowledge of Arabic is highly desirable, as it will facilitate communication with local stakeholders and the affected population.

Additional Notes:
The contract duration for this position is 12 months, with working hours set at 40 hours per week from Sunday to Thursday. The salary and benefits will be based on NRC’s salary scale and terms and conditions, specifically for the Gaza Duty Station.
