Job Overview:
The internship position is situated within the Division of Internal Oversight Services (IOS) at UNESCO's Paris Headquarters. The IOS is tasked with providing independent and objective assurance to the Director-General regarding the efficiency and effectiveness of programs, ensuring that strategic management information is reliable and timely. The intern will support the development of strategies aimed at safeguarding the Organization's interests while working closely with the Audit, Investigation, and Evaluation teams. The role emphasizes a client-oriented approach, integrity, and adherence to UNESCO's core values. The intern will engage in various activities that align with the specific needs of the team, contributing to the overall mission of promoting accountability and professionalism within the organization.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern will be involved in a variety of tasks across three main areas: Audit, Investigation, and Evaluation. In the Audit function, the intern will assist in conducting audits of selected operations, gather evidence, analyze financial data, and contribute to drafting audit reports. In the Investigation function, the intern will help develop policies, assess allegations of misconduct, draft investigation documents, and conduct interviews. For the Evaluation function, the intern will support the assessment of UNESCO programs, assist in data collection and analysis, and help disseminate evaluation findings through various formats. The intern will also perform any other tasks assigned by the Director or Heads of the respective teams, ensuring a comprehensive learning experience.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must be at least 20 years old and currently enrolled in a graduate program (Master’s degree, PhD, or equivalent) or have graduated within the last 12 months. Those who have completed a full-time bachelor's degree but are not enrolled in a graduate program are not eligible. Applicants for secretarial or technical roles must be enrolled in a relevant institution and nearing graduation. Strong computer skills and the ability to work well in a team are essential, along with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Educational Background:
The position requires candidates to be enrolled in or have recently graduated from a graduate program, such as a Master’s degree or PhD. Candidates must have completed their studies within the last 12 months to be eligible for the internship. Those pursuing secretarial or technical roles must be in their final year of study or have graduated recently from a specialized institution.

Experience:
While specific prior experience is not mandated, candidates should demonstrate relevant academic knowledge and skills applicable to the tasks outlined in the internship. The internship is designed to provide practical experience, so a willingness to learn and adapt is crucial.

Languages:
Proficiency in English or French is mandatory, with excellent written and spoken skills required in one of these languages. A working knowledge of the other language is considered an asset, particularly for roles involving secretarial or assistantship tasks at the Headquarters.
