Job Overview:
The internship position is situated within the Division for Gender Equality at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris. The intern will work under the overall authority of the Director of the Division and will be supervised by the Chief of Policies and Strategies for Gender Equality. The primary function of this role is to support the Division's work in promoting gender equality and women's empowerment across all UNESCO domains. The intern will engage in various tasks that include monitoring and reporting on gender equality activities, analyzing relevant documents, and assisting in the development of communication materials. This position offers a unique opportunity to gain professional experience in the implementation of gender equality initiatives while contributing to the broader goals of UNESCO.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including but not limited to: assisting in the follow-up and monitoring of activities related to global priority gender equality; analyzing documents and projects that promote gender equality; drafting reports, briefings, and notes; developing communication materials for the Division, including content for social media and the Division's website; organizing conferences and outreach initiatives related to gender equality; maintaining contacts with stakeholders and partners; assisting in training activities and the development of tools and guidelines; and contributing to the preparation and follow-up of sessions of the Executive Board and General Conference as assigned. The intern is expected to actively participate in all tasks and demonstrate flexibility in taking on new responsibilities as they arise.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must be at least 20 years old and currently enrolled in a graduate program (Master’s degree, PhD, or equivalent) at the time of application. Alternatively, candidates who have recently graduated with a Master’s degree or PhD within the last 12 months are also eligible. Those who have completed a full-time bachelor's degree but are not enrolled in a graduate program are not eligible. For secretarial or technical assignments, candidates must be enrolled in a specialized institution and must be in their final year or have graduated within the last 12 months. Strong computer skills and the ability to work well in a team are essential, along with strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this internship includes being currently enrolled in a graduate program or having recently graduated with a Master’s degree or PhD. Candidates must have a strong academic foundation that supports their understanding of gender equality issues and the workings of international organizations like UNESCO.

Experience:
While specific prior experience is not mandated, candidates should demonstrate a strong interest in gender equality and international development. Experience in research, analysis, or communication related to gender issues will be advantageous. The internship is designed for individuals seeking to gain practical experience in a professional setting, particularly in the context of international organizations.

Languages:
Candidates must have an excellent command of English or French, both written and spoken. A working knowledge of the other language is considered an asset and may be required for certain assignments. This internship is unpaid, and UNESCO does not provide any financial compensation for interns. However, interns are entitled to 2.5 days of leave per month during their internship.
