Job Overview:
The consultant will provide technical assistance to support the implementation of various digital EdTech learning initiatives. This includes designing capacity-building resources for teachers on blended learning pedagogies utilizing EdTech solutions. The role is crucial in enhancing digital learning outcomes for children, particularly in the context of the School Education Sector Plan (SESP) in Nepal. The consultant will work closely with the Education Specialist and the Section Chief to ensure that digital learning resources are effectively integrated into teaching practices, thereby improving educational outcomes for children.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Device Configuration and Deployment: Oversee the preparation, configuration, and deployment of devices ensuring they meet accessibility standards and child safeguarding. Facilitate the setup of Mobile Device Management (MDM) systems and train local stakeholders on its operation. Ensure devices are equipped with project-specific applications for seamless classroom integration.
  • Training and Capacity Building: Design and deliver technical training for teachers and ICT focal persons on using devices and applications. Adapt training materials for local contexts and diverse learner needs, ensuring inclusivity and accessibility.
  • Accessibility of Content: Collaborate with the HQ technical team to support the Accessible Digital Textbooks initiative, ensuring digital content complies with international accessibility guidelines and is compatible with assistive technologies.
  • Monitoring and Reporting: Track device usage, collect data on application engagement, and provide regular updates and reports to project stakeholders. Support Monitoring & Evaluation activities in collaboration with team members.
  • Collaboration and Coordination: Work with the UNICEF team to finalize and implement the Learning Management System (LMS). Support the government during the development and testing phases of accessible digital content, ensuring alignment with national educational goals.

Required Qualifications:
  • Advanced university degree in Education, social sciences, or a relevant discipline focused on equity and inclusion.
  • At least 5 years of professional experience in digital content design, educational technology, and project management.
  • Proven expertise in programming languages such as Java and Python, content design, and managing technical systems like MDM.
  • Experience with assistive technologies and a strong knowledge of accessibility standards in educational content.
  • Familiarity with Nepal's education system and previous work with government or educational institutions is preferred.

Educational Background:
Candidates must possess an advanced university degree in Education, social sciences, or a discipline relevant to equity and inclusion. This educational background is essential to understand the complexities of educational systems and the needs of diverse learners.

Experience:
The position requires at least 5 years of professional experience in relevant fields such as digital content design, educational technology, and project management. Candidates should have a proven track record of successfully implementing educational technology initiatives and managing projects effectively.

Languages:
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Nepali are mandatory. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset but is not required.
