Job Overview: The Chief, Private Sector Fundraising and Partnerships will lead UNICEF Malaysia's Country Office in increasing revenues, diversifying funding streams, and strengthening partnerships with the corporate sector and philanthropic entities. This role is crucial as UNICEF Malaysia expands its advocacy and programming footprint. The Chief will be a member of the Senior Management Team, directly impacting life-saving work by leading a dynamic fundraising unit that generates over 22 million USD annually. The position requires strategic leadership in fundraising activities aligned with UNICEF's global private sector strategy, ensuring effective engagement with businesses and key influencers.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Lead and manage the Private Sector Fundraising Team, ensuring high performance and accountability.
Develop and implement the Private Sector Plan for the country office, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and achievement of income targets.
Acquire, cultivate, and retain individual donors and supporters, establishing meaningful partnerships with the private sector.
Oversee the planning, development, and realization of private sector fundraising activities, ensuring they are in line with UNICEF’s global strategy.
Foster a culture of innovation within the team, encouraging new ideas and approaches to fundraising.
Build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders, including corporate partners and philanthropic entities.
Monitor and evaluate fundraising strategies, adjusting as necessary to meet organizational goals and respond to challenges.
Required Qualifications:
An advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in Business Administration, Marketing, Communications, Fundraising, Management, or a relevant technical field. Alternatively, a first university degree in a relevant field combined with two additional years (10 years) of professional experience may be accepted in lieu of an Advanced University degree.
A minimum of eight (8) years of professional experience in private sector fundraising, with progressively increasing responsibilities, including direct responsibility for setting and meeting income targets.
Management experience is essential, with a proven track record in leading teams and achieving results.
Educational Background: Candidates must possess an advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in relevant fields such as Business Administration, Marketing, Communications, Fundraising, or Management. Alternatively, a first university degree in a relevant field combined with extensive professional experience may be accepted.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of eight (8) years of professional experience in private sector fundraising, with a focus on progressively increasing responsibilities. Management experience is essential, and familiarity with the country context is considered an asset. International fundraising experience is also advantageous.
Languages: Fluency in oral and written English is mandatory. Familiarity with additional languages may be beneficial but is not required.
