Job Overview: The Protection Case Management Associate position is critical within the UNHCR framework, primarily located at the Multi-Country Office, Branch Office, or Field Office. The incumbent will be part of the Protection Section and may work under various units such as Registration, Refugee Status Determination (RSD), or Resettlement. The role involves supporting activities related to registration, refugee status determination, and resettlement, ensuring compliance with operational policies and the comprehensive protection strategy. The associate will conduct interviews, draft documents, and provide support to new caseworkers, all while adhering to UNHCR's core values of professionalism, integrity, and respect for diversity. This position requires a strong understanding of individual case processes and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities while maintaining compliance with protection case processing standards.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the Protection Case Management Associate include assisting in the implementation of registration strategies for populations of concern, supervising registration team activities, conducting interviews and assessments in line with individual case-processing policies, providing counseling to asylum seekers and refugees, and supporting the timely identification and referral of individuals with specific needs. The associate will also assist in developing protection strategies, monitoring individual case processing trends, maintaining accurate records and statistics, and ensuring that the proGres database is updated. Additionally, the associate will be responsible for identifying and managing risks, collaborating with other units, and performing other related duties as required.
Required Qualifications: The position requires a minimum of three years of relevant experience with a High School Diploma, or two years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor's degree or higher. Essential qualifications include the ability to conduct interviews, analyze and report on beneficiary situations, and possess strong research and analytical skills. Excellent oral and written communication skills are also necessary. Desirable qualifications include experience with registration, resettlement, and RSD procedures, as well as previous work in International Refugee Law and Human Rights Law. Experience in counseling asylum seekers or refugees and working with vulnerable individuals is also beneficial.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a High School Diploma for candidates with three years of relevant experience, or a Bachelor's degree or higher for those with two years of relevant experience. While specific fields of education are not mandated, certificates and licenses in Law, International Law, Political Sciences, International Relations, or Social Sciences are considered essential.
