Job Overview:
The Heavy Duty Mechanic position is part of the Gaza Logistics Special Operations (LSO) unit, which is tasked with managing logistics operations in a complex environment. The LSO unit focuses on fleet management, fuel management, and the design and implementation of special infrastructures. The role involves overseeing maintenance activities at service provider workshops, ensuring that all repairs and maintenance are conducted according to organizational policies and standards. The Heavy Duty Mechanic will be responsible for supervising workshop personnel, maintaining safety standards, and ensuring that all equipment is functioning efficiently. This position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to work under pressure to meet operational demands.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Heavy Duty Mechanic will have a comprehensive set of responsibilities, including:

• Supervising and assisting with maintenance activities at the service provider's workshop.
• Overseeing asset management and maintenance schedules.
• Monitoring spare parts utilization and conducting regular inventory checks.
• Providing technical support and guidance to workshop technicians.
• Inspecting the quality of repairs on automotive equipment, including major engine overhauls and electrical repairs.
• Ensuring safety precautions are followed during all repair activities.
• Establishing effective workshop management systems.
• Diagnosing faults using computerized testing equipment and adjusting equipment as necessary.
• Collaborating with other mechanics and management to maintain fleet schedules. 1

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an advanced automotive diploma or a technical and vocational certificate in mechanical or electrical engineering. Hands-on experience in heavy trucks and equipment maintenance is crucial, typically gained through apprenticeships or previous job roles. A strong understanding of electronic, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems is often necessary for advanced repair tasks.
