Job Overview:
The consultant will provide technical assistance to the local educational management units (UGEL) in designing a transformation pathway for rural and Amazonian secondary schools integrated into their educational management instruments. This role is crucial in the context of the implementation of the education program in Peru, particularly focusing on the co-design of an educational program tailored for the Amazon region. The consultant will work closely with local communities, indigenous groups, and educational authorities to ensure that the educational proposals respect local identities and cultures while enhancing civic engagement and productive relationships within their communities. The consultant will also facilitate workshops and mentoring sessions aimed at developing comprehensive skills among adolescents in the Amazon, ensuring they complete their secondary education and are better equipped for future challenges.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The consultant's primary responsibilities include designing methodologies and support materials for technical assistance sessions to UGEL, facilitating these sessions in coordination with education specialists, and organizing peer mentoring among UGEL for the development of transformation plans for rural secondary schools. The consultant will accompany the implementation of the work plan for the UGEL network, organize socialization events for the transformation plans, and prepare consolidated reports on the transformation plans developed by UGEL. Additionally, the consultant will monitor the implementation of these plans, assist in the formation of a subgroup of Amazonian UGEL, and provide technical assistance to rural and Amazonian UGEL in specific regions. The consultant will also engage in activities related to environmental education and waste management, representing UNESCO in various events and developing collaborative agendas with other regional and national offices.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a bachelor's degree in Education, Psychology, Humanities, or related fields. A completed postgraduate degree, particularly in education, is considered an advantage. Candidates should have at least 12 years of professional experience, with a preference for experience in the education sector. Additionally, candidates should have a minimum of 5 years of experience in projects or programs within public institutions and at least 3 projects with international organizations, NGOs, or civil society institutions related to governance or school management. It is essential that candidates do not currently hold a contract or appointment with the State.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a bachelor's degree in relevant fields such as Education, Psychology, or Humanities. A postgraduate degree in education is highly desirable and will be considered a significant advantage in the selection process.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 12 years of professional experience, with a strong preference for candidates who have worked in the education sector. Candidates should also have at least 5 years of experience in projects or programs within public institutions and experience in at least 3 projects with international organizations, NGOs, or civil society institutions related to governance or school management.

Languages:
Fluency in Spanish is mandatory, with a native level of proficiency required. Basic proficiency in English is also required, particularly in reading and writing, as well as oral communication.

Additional Notes:
The contract duration is set for six months, subject to budget availability and performance evaluation. The position does not include expectations for renewal or conversion to another type of contract, nor does it provide coverage for medical services. The consultant must be available for travel within and outside the country as required by the program, with travel costs covered by the project in accordance with UNESCO's internal regulations.
