Job Overview:
The National Programme Officer in Education for Health and Wellbeing will play a crucial role in advancing UNESCO's mission within the Education Sector. The incumbent will work under the authority of the UNESCO Assistant-Director General for Education and the Director of the UNESCO Regional Office in Santiago. This position involves providing strategic and technical support for the development and implementation of educational programs focused on health and well-being. The officer will be responsible for addressing local needs through the UNESCO Strategy on Education for Health and Well-being, which includes areas such as sexuality education, HIV prevention, violence prevention in schools, gender equality, and mental health. The role requires collaboration with various stakeholders, including UN partners, to ensure effective program delivery and alignment with global development plans.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the National Programme Officer include providing technical support for the research, conceptualization, development, and implementation of programs related to comprehensive sexuality education, school violence prevention, school health and nutrition, and mental health promotion. The officer will identify opportunities for UNESCO's engagement in policy development and programming, liaise with UNESCO structures and external partners, and provide technical support to Ministries on key thematic areas. Additionally, the officer will monitor program delivery and budget, build and maintain strategic partnerships, represent UNESCO in coordination forums, and contribute to resource mobilization efforts. The role also involves developing project proposals and supporting internal and external reporting for donors.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an advanced university degree (Masters or equivalent) in education, social sciences, public health, or a relevant field. They should have at least two years of relevant work experience in areas related to sexual and reproductive health, gender, and education. A track record in resource mobilization, budget management, and reporting is essential. Candidates should demonstrate a good understanding of the Latin America and the Caribbean region, particularly in the context of development work and the education sector. Extensive knowledge and high-level technical writing skills in HIV prevention, sexuality education, gender equality, and school-related gender-based violence are required. Excellent interpersonal skills, networking abilities, and strategic analytical skills are also necessary for this position.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes an advanced university degree, such as a Master's degree or its equivalent, in fields related to education, social sciences, public health, or other relevant disciplines. This advanced education is crucial for understanding the complexities of health and well-being in educational contexts and for developing effective programs and policies.

Experience:

The role is full-time, and the approximate annual starting salary for this position is 63,120,000 CLP.
