Job Overview:
The Grants Manager position is crucial for supporting Mercy Corps' program department by serving as the primary point of contact for communicating the organization's humanitarian activities through donor reports. This role involves collating information from various operational departments to create concise narratives that are backed by statistical evidence and case studies. The Grants Manager must have a thorough understanding of compliance and reporting requirements for each donor and effectively communicate these to program teams. They will also ensure adherence to Mercy Corps' internal systems of Program Management and possess a foundational understanding of monitoring, evaluation, and learning (MEL) standards. This position requires strong operational knowledge of all activities and strategies within Syria and the Whole of Syria grants unit, as well as collaboration with various departments to draft proposals and develop initial narratives and budgets.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Grants Manager will be responsible for coordinating across multiple departments, including program, finance, and support functions, throughout the grant cycle. Key responsibilities include ensuring the proper setup of new grants, ongoing reporting, and the closeout of grants. They will prepare donor and internal reports in compliance with requirements, maintain an organized grant filing system, and update project management tools such as funding trackers and dashboards. The Grants Manager will work closely with the Grants Management Senior Manager to manage grants effectively, providing regular updates on project progress and financial burn rates. They will also coordinate program meetings, document lessons learned, and prepare for board meetings to update members on program progress. In terms of new business development, the Grants Manager will lead the development of concept notes and proposals, ensuring they align with Mercy Corps and donor objectives. They will also manage finance and compliance by ensuring programs adhere to donor agreements and regulations, providing training to field teams, and supporting budget development.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates for the Grants Manager position should possess strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across departments. They should have a solid understanding of grant management processes and compliance requirements, as well as experience in proposal development. Proficiency in project management tools and reporting systems is essential. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a commitment to Mercy Corps' mission and values, with a focus on diversity and inclusion in their work.

Educational Background:
A bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as international development, public administration, or a related discipline is required. A master's degree is preferred but not mandatory. Candidates should have a strong academic background that supports their understanding of grant management and program implementation.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 3-5 years of experience in grant management, program management, or a related field, preferably within an international non-profit organization. Experience working in complex environments, particularly in the Middle East, is highly desirable. Candidates should have a proven track record of successful proposal development and donor reporting.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, both written and spoken. Proficiency in Arabic is highly desirable, as it will facilitate communication with local stakeholders and enhance the effectiveness of program implementation. Knowledge of additional languages relevant to the region is a plus.

This position is full-time and based in Amman, Jordan. The role may involve occasional travel to field locations within Syria.
