Job Overview:
The OECD Trade and Agriculture Directorate (TAD) is responsible for providing timely information and advice to support governments in enhancing the performance of their trade, agriculture, food, and fishery policies. The Analysis, Data and Modelling Division (TAD/ADM) plays a crucial role in this mission by offering evidence-based policy advice and monitoring international trade dynamics. The Trade Modeller will be tasked with conducting empirical and qualitative analyses of trade issues, utilizing the OECD's global computable general equilibrium model, METRO. This position involves contributing to the model's maintenance and development, conducting analytical studies on trade policies, and engaging in policy-oriented research. The selected candidate will be integral to the METRO team, contributing to the model's evolution and its application in various analyses across the Directorate and OECD.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Trade Modeller will be responsible for modeling trade and agriculture policies in OECD and partner countries, preparing analyses and policy recommendations based on modeling results. Key responsibilities include contributing to the development and maintenance of the METRO model, managing and updating related databases and software tools, conducting research, and drafting analytical papers and reports. The role also involves reviewing documents produced by external consultants and internal colleagues, developing methods for disseminating key findings, and participating in OECD committee meetings. Additionally, the Trade Modeller will engage with experts from other organizations and lead training sessions on the METRO model, providing expert advice and support to users.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an advanced university degree in applied economics or political sciences. A minimum of three years of professional experience in quantitative analysis related to trade and agriculture is required. Experience in developing Computable General Equilibrium (CGE) models and providing training in an international context is essential. Candidates should demonstrate proficiency in conveying complex findings clearly and concisely, as well as experience with data management and analysis software, particularly GAMS. Familiarity with economic databases such as GTAP, OECD ICIO-TiVA, and WIOD is also necessary.

Educational Background:
An advanced university degree in applied economics or political sciences is required for this position. This educational background should provide a strong foundation in economic theory, quantitative analysis, and policy evaluation, equipping the candidate with the necessary skills to engage in complex trade and agriculture policy discussions.

Experience:
The ideal candidate should have at least three years of professional experience in quantitative analysis, specifically focusing on trade and agriculture issues. This experience should include working with Computable General Equilibrium (CGE) models and providing training and support to users, ideally in an international environment. The candidate should also have a proven track record of conducting quantitative analyses and effectively communicating findings to inform policy implications.

Languages:
Fluency in one of the two OECD official languages (English and French) is mandatory, along with knowledge of the other language. Candidates should demonstrate a commitment to achieving a good working level in the second language, as effective communication in both languages is essential for collaboration within the organization.

Additional Notes:
This position is a 13-month fixed-term appointment with the possibility of renewal. The monthly salary starts at 6,665 EUR, with additional allowances based on eligibility, and is exempt from French income tax. The selection process includes written tests and video-recorded interviews in December 2024, followed by panel interviews in February 202
