Job Overview:
The Speechwriter position at AIIB is a pivotal role within the Communications Department, responsible for crafting high-quality speeches, talking points, and other written communications for senior AIIB officials. This role requires a deep understanding of AIIB's mission and its significance in international affairs, as well as the ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences. The Speechwriter will also establish and manage AIIB's first Speaker’s Bureau, which will enhance the bank's global engagement and public presence. The position demands a strategic approach to communication, ensuring that all materials align with the bank's objectives and resonate with both internal and external stakeholders.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Speechwriter will be responsible for the following duties:
  • Crafting high-quality speeches and written materials that ensure accuracy, clarity, and alignment with AIIB's strategic objectives.
  • Developing and managing AIIB's Speaker’s Bureau, shaping its strategic approach to global engagement, and curating internal experts for external speaking opportunities.
  • Researching and synthesizing complex topics related to infrastructure finance, sustainability, and international development to inform content creation.
  • Providing strategic communication advice to senior leadership on messaging and public speaking opportunities.
  • Collaborating with senior leadership to tailor speeches and public remarks for various audiences.
  • Working across departments to gather insights for impactful messaging.
  • Liaising with external stakeholders and media partners to coordinate speaking engagements.
  • Providing training and coaching to internal experts to enhance their public speaking skills.
  • Overseeing the execution of the Speaker’s Bureau, including managing timelines and resources. 1
  • Ensuring all communications meet deadlines while maintaining high standards of quality. 1
  • Adapting writing styles for different formats and audiences. 1
  • Continuously assessing the effectiveness of the Speaker’s Bureau and making necessary adjustments.

Required Qualifications:
The position requires the following qualifications:
  • A Master’s degree in communications, journalism, international relations, or a related field.
  • An additional two years of relevant working experience may be considered in lieu of a Master's degree.
  • At least 5-8 years of progressive experience in drafting high-quality written materials, including speeches, in English.
  • Strong knowledge of international political, economic, and social affairs, particularly related to AIIB's work.
  • Experience working with international organizations or multilateral institutions is desirable.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Educational Background:
Candidates must possess a Master’s degree in communications, journalism, international relations, or a related field. In cases where candidates do not have a Master’s degree, an additional two years of relevant working experience may be considered as a substitute for the degree requirement.

Experience:
The ideal candidate should have at least 5-8 years of progressive experience in drafting high-quality written materials, particularly speeches, in English. Experience in international political, economic, and social affairs, as well as familiarity with the workings of AIIB, is highly desirable. Additionally, experience working with international organizations or multilateral institutions will be beneficial.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, with exceptional written and verbal communication skills required. Knowledge of additional languages may be considered an asset but is not mandatory for this position.
