Job Overview:
The Communications and Digital Editor will play a crucial role in the Communications and Digital Office (CDO) of the IEA, which is responsible for public communications, press relations, and online presence. The editor will be tasked with writing and editing content related to complex energy topics, ensuring that key messages are effectively conveyed to a broad audience. This position requires collaboration with energy analysts and other teams to produce accessible content that reflects the IEA's mission and policy recommendations. The editor will also be involved in developing online tools and managing the IEA's social media accounts, contributing to the public's understanding of major energy issues and the IEA's leadership in energy security and clean energy transitions.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The main responsibilities of the Communications and Digital Editor include:
  • Editorial Production: Collaborating with energy analysts to clarify and simplify technical findings for non-expert audiences; drafting, rewriting, and editing reports; providing feedback on key message materials; ensuring accurate representation of analysts' work in public narratives; and contributing to high-priority IEA publications.
  • Web and Social Media: Acting as a liaison between analysts and the communications team to identify suitable online formats for new analyses; developing new online content for the IEA website; ensuring accuracy and clarity of web materials; translating energy analysis into accessible social media content; and collaborating with the video team to create narrative content for key findings.

Required Qualifications:
The ideal candidate should possess an advanced academic degree in energy, social sciences, public policies, or equivalent practical experience. A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in journalism or professional writing, preferably in an international or governmental context, is required. Knowledge of social media tools and online web production is advantageous, along with a substantive background in the energy or environment field. The candidate must demonstrate the ability to simplify complex technical information for a broad audience, possess strong organizational skills, and work independently while reporting progress. Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to establish positive working relationships in a multicultural environment are essential.

Educational Background:
Candidates must have an advanced academic degree in a relevant field such as energy, social sciences, or public policies. Equivalent practical experience may also be considered.

Experience:
The position requires at least 3-5 years of relevant experience in journalism or professional writing, with a preference for candidates who have worked in international or governmental settings. A background in energy or environmental issues is necessary to effectively communicate complex topics to a diverse audience.

Languages:
Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English is mandatory, while a working knowledge of French is considered an advantage. Proficiency in additional languages may also be beneficial but is not explicitly required.

Additional Notes:
This position is a two-year fixed-term appointment with the possibility of renewal. The monthly salary starts at 7,436.77 EUR, depending on experience, and is exempt from French income tax.
