Job Overview: The Project Coordinator will play a crucial role in overseeing the implementation of a project aimed at supporting the Labour Inspectorate and the Occupational Safety and Health Directorate of Serbia. This project focuses on harmonizing occupational safety and health legislation and modernizing training and technical capacities of these institutions. The Project Coordinator will ensure timely delivery and reporting on project deliverables, manage collaboration with project partners, and provide technical advice based on international labor standards and best practices. The role requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to work closely with various stakeholders, including government agencies and social partners, to achieve project objectives.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Review and analyze the country’s specific development plans and priorities, socioeconomic data, reports, and other relevant information to identify potential technical cooperation areas and provide written analysis to the director" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Country Director.
Collaborate closely with the labour inspectorate, the occupational safety and health Directorate, the Ministry of Labour, social partners, and the EU Delegation in Serbia to design and revise project annual work plans and prepare budget proposals, ensuring gender equality and non-discrimination are included in all aspects of the project.
Monitor project activities by reviewing, verifying, and analyzing work plans, progress reports, and other data for clarity and completeness, following up on delayed documents and clarifying information as needed.
Facilitate communication with relevant technical officers and counterparts in organizations and line ministries to expedite project implementation and meet targets.
Assist in programming and controlling project resources, preparing budget estimates and expenditure forecasts, and managing procurement processes according to ILO rules.
Provide programming and administrative support for cooperation activities in Occupational Safety and Health, including facilitating study visits and knowledge transfer activities, overseeing the development of the E-inspector system, and ensuring alignment with stakeholder needs.
Organize training for labour inspectorates and OSH staff on the use of the enhanced E-inspector system and the electronic registry.
Participate in the preparation and conduct of conferences, seminars, workshops, and training sessions, representing the project at these events.
Brief ILO specialists and project experts on project matters, drafting and translating official correspondence and public information materials as needed.

Lead the preparation of briefs, technical reports, and periodic progress reports on project activities.

Perform other duties as assigned by the Country Director.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a first-level university degree in public administration, Occupational Safety and Health, engineering, or a related field. Advanced education in these areas is considered an advantage. Additionally, candidates should have a strong understanding of project management principles and practices, particularly in the context of technical cooperation projects.
Educational Background: A first-level university degree is required, with a preference for candidates holding advanced degrees in occupational safety and health, engineering, or systems management. This educational background is essential for understanding the complexities of the project and the legislative frameworks involved.
Experience: Candidates should have at least one year of professional experience at the national level in project management, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation. Experience in information systems development and deployment, as well as legislative support, is advantageous. Proven experience working effectively with government bodies responsible for occupational safety and health is also beneficial.
Languages: Excellent knowledge of the working language of the duty station (Serbian) is mandatory, along with a good knowledge of English. Proficiency in both languages is essential for effective communication with stakeholders and project partners.
Additional Notes: The position is a fixed-term contract for two years, with the possibility of extension subject to various factors including availability of funds and satisfactory performance.
