Job Overview:
The Project Coordinator will play a crucial role in the implementation of the EU-funded project titled 'Building trust in media in South East Europe: Support to Journalism as a Public Good.' This position involves ensuring the timely and effective coordination of project activities, managing partnerships with various stakeholders, and contributing to UNESCO's mission of promoting freedom of expression in the region. The incumbent will work under the supervision of the Director of the Regional Bureau for Sciences and Culture in Europe and the Head of Antenna in Sarajevo, while also collaborating with the CI Sector at UNESCO Headquarters. The role requires a proactive approach to project management, including drafting terms of reference, monitoring budget execution, and evaluating project outcomes. The Project Coordinator will also be responsible for enhancing the visibility of the project, managing knowledge related to freedom of expression, and fostering partnerships for resource mobilization.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Project Coordinator include:
  • Project Coordination: Ensure efficient coordination among partners and consultants, manage project activities, and monitor budget execution.
  • Visibility: Collaborate with communication officers to maximize project visibility, propose outreach strategies, and organize project launch events.
  • Knowledge Management: Stay updated on developments in freedom of expression in South East Europe and provide relevant information to project partners.
  • Networking and Resource Mobilization: Liaise with the UNESCO Brussels Office and identify opportunities for resource mobilization with the EU and other donors.
  • Perform other related duties as required by the supervisor.

Required Qualifications:
The required qualifications for the Project Coordinator position include:
  • Education: An advanced university degree in communication, information, political science, or a related field.
  • Work Experience: A minimum of 4 years of experience in project management in communication and/or information, with at least 2 years at an international level.
  • Skills: Excellent project management, written and oral communication skills, ability to work under pressure, and advanced IT skills. Knowledge of freedom of expression and media diversity in South East Europe is essential.

Educational Background:
Candidates must possess an advanced university degree in communication, information, political science, or a related field. This educational background is crucial for understanding the complexities of communication and information management within the context of international projects.

Experience:
Candidates should have a minimum of 4 years of work experience in project management, particularly in the fields of communication and information. Excellent knowledge of English is mandatory, with the ability to produce high-quality written outputs such as reports and news items.
