The UN Resident Coordinator Offices (UN RCO) play a crucial role in supporting countries to meet their development priorities under the leadership of the UN Resident Coordinator, who is the highest-ranking UN official in the country. Job Overview:
The Driver position is located in the Resident Coordinator's Office in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina. The incumbent will be responsible for safely transporting authorized personnel and general cargo, making deliveries, and assisting with minor purchases. The role requires effective interaction with officials and visitors, ensuring compliance with protocol when driving senior UN officials. The Driver will also maintain the assigned vehicles, perform minor repairs, and log maintenance activities. Additionally, the position involves assisting with data collection and analysis, contributing to reports and presentations, and updating information materials. The Driver must demonstrate professionalism, planning, and client orientation in their work, ensuring that all tasks are completed efficiently and effectively.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Driver will perform the following duties:
  • Safely drive vehicles for the transport of authorized personnel and general cargo.
  • Make deliveries of parcels and documents between the office and other institutions, such as Ministries and Embassies.
  • Conduct minor purchases and collect urgent items from local suppliers as requested.
  • Facilitate customs formalities for goods collected from customs.
  • Meet official personnel at the airport and assist with immigration and customs procedures.
  • Maintain day-to-day vehicle upkeep, including checking oil, water, battery, brakes, and tires, performing minor repairs, and ensuring cleanliness and insurance of the vehicle.
  • Log fuel consumption and maintenance records.
  • Report any vehicle damage or loss of tools.
  • Ensure compliance with rules and regulations in case of accidents. 1
  • Apply good judgment in assignments and assist with data collection and analysis for reports and presentations. 1
  • Update information materials such as web pages or brochures. 1
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a valid National Driver License. A defensive driving certification and first aid training are desirable. Knowledge of driving rules and regulations, as well as familiarity with the area and current road conditions, is essential. The candidate should demonstrate professionalism, efficiency, and a commitment to gender equality in the workplace. The ability to develop clear goals, prioritize tasks, and maintain productive client relationships is also required.

Educational Background:
A high school diploma or equivalent is required. A relevant first-level university degree may be accepted in lieu of two years of required experience, indicating that educational qualifications can be flexible depending on the candidate's experience.

Experience:
A minimum of two years of continuous driving experience with a safe driving record is required. Candidates should have experience driving various makes and models of vehicles, including vans and other motorized vehicles. Demonstrable professional driving experience with a proven record of safe vehicle operation is desirable. Experience working with the United Nations or similar international organizations, as well as with senior diplomatic officials, is also preferred. Additionally, one year or more of experience in data analytics or a related area is desirable.

Languages:
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this position, proficiency in English is required, with a minimum level of UN Level II. Proficiency in Bosnian, Croatian, or Serbian is also required, with a minimum level of UN Level I for reading, writing, listening, and speaking.

Additional Notes:
This is a Fixed Term position available for a duration of one year, with no expectation of renewal. The appointment is subject to local recruitment rules, and applicants must be authorized to work for the United Nations in the duty station.
