Job Overview:
The Technical Officer for HIV/AIDS, Viral Hepatitis, and Sexually Transmitted Infections will play a crucial role in supporting the planning, development, implementation, and monitoring of health programs related to these diseases within the Unified Health System (SUS) in Brazil. The incumbent will work closely with national authorities and strategic partners to ensure that health interventions are evidence-based and culturally appropriate. This position requires a strong understanding of public health principles, particularly in relation to communicable diseases, and the ability to navigate complex political and social contexts. The officer will also be responsible for mobilizing resources, facilitating technical cooperation, and contributing to the development of national policies and programs aimed at improving health outcomes for vulnerable populations affected by HIV/AIDS, VH, and STI.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The incumbent will be responsible for a wide range of duties, including: 1) Providing technical support for the planning and implementation of health programs related to HIV/AIDS, VH, and STI; 2) Collaborating with national authorities to strengthen health surveillance and institutional capacity; 3) Supporting the preparation and monitoring of research projects in partnership with academic institutions; 4) Participating in national and international technical working groups; 5) Assisting in the development of the Biennial Work Plan and executing technical cooperation; 6) Supporting the preparation of progress reports and documentation related to project implementation; 7) Mobilizing financial and non-financial resources for health initiatives; 8) Engaging in discussions with WHO HQ and PAHO WDC to align strategies; 9) Participating in workshops and training sessions for national stakeholders; 10) Performing other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a university degree in a health science with specialization in public health, HIV/AIDS, VH, STI, or a related field from a recognized institution. The qualifications must be validated through accredited databases such as the World Higher Education Database (WHED) and others. Candidates should demonstrate a strong commitment to ethical practices and the values of PAHO, including integrity, respect for diversity, and accountability.

Educational Background:
A university degree in a health science with specialization in public health, HIV/AIDS, VH, STI, or any related field is essential. Candidates must provide proof of their educational qualifications during the interview process, ensuring that their degrees are from accredited institutions recognized by relevant educational authorities.

Experience:
A minimum of five years of national experience in public health, specifically focused on project management and programs related to HIV/AIDS, VH, and STI, is required. Languages:

This position is subject to local recruitment regulations, and candidates must hold a permanent local working visa (citizenship or permanent resident card) of Brazil.
