Job Overview:
The Private Sector Partnership Specialist will play a crucial role within the Division for Partnerships of the Bureau of Strategic Planning at UNESCO. This position is focused on enhancing UNESCO's engagement with the private sector, which includes businesses, foundations, and individual donors. The incumbent will be responsible for building and maintaining strong relationships with potential partners, monitoring investment trends, and integrating innovative financing mechanisms into UNESCO initiatives. The role requires a strategic approach to partnership development, resource mobilization, and the ability to leverage UNESCO's brand for partnership opportunities. The Specialist will also support the development of strategy and policy documents related to partnerships and resource mobilization, ensuring that UNESCO's objectives align with the needs of its partners.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Private Sector Partnership Specialist include:
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with prospective private sector partners, including organizing meetings, workshops, and events.
  • Monitoring private sector investment trends and identifying opportunities for engagement.
  • Integrating innovative financing instruments into UNESCO initiatives.
  • Leveraging UNESCO's brand for partnership development through initiatives like co-branding and joint campaigns.
  • Providing support to UNESCO Programme sectors and field offices in negotiating funding agreements.
  • Developing pitches, presentations, and briefs to facilitate private sector engagement.
  • Organizing events to expand networking opportunities with potential partners.
  • Performing any other duties as assigned by the Chief of Section for Strategic Partnerships and Donor Relations.

Required Qualifications:
The required qualifications for the Private Sector Partnership Specialist position include:
  • Advanced university degree (Master’s or equivalent) in Social Sciences, Economics, or related fields relevant to UNESCO’s mandate.
  • At least four years of relevant work experience in private sector engagement, partnerships, and resource mobilization, with a preference for two years at the international level.
  • Demonstrated analytical and technical skills in partnership development and resource mobilization.
  • Successful track record in managing partnerships with various stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of blended finance approaches and private sector financing instruments.
  • Proven ability to establish and enhance strategic networks and partnerships.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a multicultural environment.

Educational Background:
