Job Overview:
The LOGISTICIAN - "IMPROVEMENT of LIVING CONDITIONS" will play a crucial role in supporting the Logistics Coordinator to enhance living conditions in N'Djamena and other operational bases. The position is vital due to the increased activities and funding resulting from ongoing conflicts in Sudan, which have necessitated a rapid emergency response. The logistician will face challenges such as upgrading living conditions for a tripled team size and managing cross-border operations to Darfur. The initial priorities include identifying and supervising the renovation of a new guest house, organizing general services, and reviewing safety standards across various bases.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Identify and supervise the move to a new Guest House for Coordination in N'Djamena.
  • Oversee renovation work for the new coordination office and manage the relocation process.
  • Organize general services at the Guest House, including establishing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for cooks and guards.
  • Conduct a comprehensive review and upgrade of living conditions standards, including internet access and equipment for N'Djamena and other bases.
  • Assess and improve the safety of offices and guest houses in other operational bases.
  • Collaborate with the Logistics Coordinator to ensure compliance with SI standards in all logistical operations.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a BAC +5 degree in logistics or transportation. They should have specific skills and experience in supervising renovation work, managing purchasing and budget follow-up, and ensuring safety standards are met. The ability to work under tight deadlines is essential, along with experience living in International Staff Guest Houses.

Educational Background:
A minimum educational requirement of BAC +5 in logistics or transportation is necessary for this position. This advanced degree ensures that candidates have a solid foundation in the principles and practices relevant to logistics management.

Experience:
Candidates should have relevant experience in logistics, particularly in supervising renovation projects and managing logistical operations in challenging environments. Experience in working with international humanitarian organizations is preferred, as it provides insight into the unique challenges faced in such settings.

Languages:
Fluent French is mandatory for this position, as it is the primary language of communication in the region. Proficiency in English is considered an added advantage, enhancing the candidate's ability to communicate effectively in diverse environments.

  • The role is based in N'Djamena, Chad, and involves a salaried position starting from EUR 2310 gross per month, which includes a base salary and an annual leave allowance. Additionally, a monthly Per Diem of USD 750 is provided. SI covers accommodation costs and travel expenses for expatriates. The organization implements a work-break system, allowing for 7 working days off every three months, along with an additional rest day for each month worked. Expatriates benefit from a comprehensive insurance package covering healthcare expenses, including medical, surgical, dental, and repatriation costs. Living conditions in N'Djamena are described as very good, with access to various amenities, although field bases may present more basic living conditions.
