Job Overview: The UN Volunteer COE Assistant will play a crucial role within the Contingent Owned Equipment (COE) Inspectors/Assistants team, focusing on the management and inspection of individual contingent units. This position is vital for ensuring that the T/PCC (Troop/Police Contributing Countries) and the UN adhere to their responsibilities as outlined in the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). The COE Assistant will conduct various inspections, including Arrival, Periodic, Operational Readiness, and Repatriation inspections, to verify compliance and operational readiness. The role also involves maintaining the e-COE System, producing reports, and providing advice to contingent staff on COE/MOU matters. The COE Assistant will be expected to identify deficiencies and surpluses in equipment and self-sustainment capabilities, recommend corrective actions, and produce regular reports for the COE Programme Manager. This position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and a commitment to supporting the mission's objectives in South Sudan.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the UN Volunteer COE Assistant include: conducting various inspections of contingent units to verify compliance with MOU; preparing and raising Major Equipment and Self-Sustainment verification reports; maintaining the e-COE System and ensuring data quality; producing standard and customized reports using e-COE data; maintaining accurate contingent tables of organization and equipment; keeping records of inspections; advising contingent staff on COE/MOU matters; identifying equipment deficiencies and surpluses; producing weekly and monthly reports; performing administrative tasks; organizing and coordinating meetings; processing monthly Uniformed Strength Reports; managing claims for Daily Allowance and Recreational Leave Allowances; drafting reports and interoffice memos; managing the Unit’s SharePoint; and performing additional duties as required by the COE Programme Manager. Furthermore, the COE Assistant is expected to engage in volunteerism activities and contribute to UNV publications and initiatives.
Required Qualifications: The position requires a strong understanding of the principles of contingent owned equipment management and the ability to work collaboratively within a team.
