Job Overview: The Specialist - Navigation and Support will play a crucial role in providing support to individuals who have experienced misconduct or crises, including fraud and retaliation. This position requires a compassionate and knowledgeable individual who can create a safe environment for victims to report their experiences. The specialist will serve as a point of contact for reporters, offering guidance on available processes and resources. The role also involves facilitating case management, ensuring that victims receive the necessary support and resources while maintaining confidentiality and ethical standards. Additionally, the specialist will be responsible for monitoring and reporting on the effectiveness of victim support programs and contributing to capacity-building initiatives within the organization.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Navigation Support: Serve as a point of contact for reporters/victims/survivors, providing a confidential environment for reporting misconduct. Offer guidance on whistle-blowing processes and maintain a safe space for individuals to share their experiences.
Facilitation of Case Management: Create an environment that minimizes re-traumatization during reporting and investigation. Provide de-escalation support and monitor the needs of reporters/victims/survivors.
Monitoring and Reporting: Conduct internal and external reporting, maintain a database for tracking support provided, and evaluate the effectiveness of victim support programs.
Capacity Building: Develop operational procedures related to victim-centered approaches, deliver training, and advocate for survivor-centered strategies within the organization. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to promote effective support mechanisms.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in protection/safeguarding, social work, or gender-based violence, particularly within international development or humanitarian aid. Experience in individualized case management and interdisciplinary coordination is highly desirable. Proven experience in diversity and inclusion, as well as an understanding of intersectionality, is required. Previous experience with the UN or NGOs is preferred, along with skills in developing and facilitating training programs and report writing.
Educational Background: An advanced university degree (Master’s) in fields such as Law, Social Justice, Human Rights, Behavioral Sciences, Psychology, or Social Sciences is required. Alternatively, a first university degree (Bachelor’s) in these fields combined with two additional years of relevant experience will be accepted in lieu of the advanced degree.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in protection/safeguarding, social work, or gender-based violence, with a strong emphasis on international development and humanitarian aid. Experience working in the global south is essential, along with a proven track record in case management and support for survivors of abuse. Familiarity with diversity and inclusion practices is also necessary.
Languages: Fluency in English and French is mandatory for this position. Proficiency in Arabic or Portuguese is considered an asset, enhancing the candidate's ability to communicate effectively with a diverse range of individuals.
Additional Notes: This position is classified under the International ICA contract type, specifically at the IICA-2 level. The contract is ongoing and open-ended, subject to organizational requirements, availability of funds, and satisfactory performance.
